I have just found out im pg with #2 and my ds will be just under 2 when its born in December.
I dont know if i will need to buy a double buggy or use my M&P Pliko with a buggy board.
I have a lightweight pushchair that ds can use if he needs to when i go out with dp/family but i didnt know if it will be easier for me to get a twin pram or buggy borad as ive never used either before.
Thanks

i do NOT recommend the M&P pilko with a buggy board

have one where i work... i have used it twice and vowed after the 2nd time that i will never EVER use it again

its a nightmare to push with a buggy board on and gives me back ache

I either use the phil and teds (fab)

OR use the single maclaren and make the eldest walk .

(saying that now they are 19months and 4 years the eldest walkss all the time no anyway, and i have the phil and teds in single mode all the time too!)

I have a Pliko + buggypod. To be honest, I wouldn't recommend it, it's a fab idea but it's a fight to get it on or off, and the balance is so skewed the pushchair wants to go sideways.

I'd probably go for a Marco Sky if I knew then what I know now! But I would need to check that it fitted in my car when folded - it is somewhat longer than a single pushchair.

I wouldn't have just a buggy pod, even now with dd 3y 4m, as she still nods off when we're out on occasion.

Nanny L..have you not used the pliko and used the toddler step that is already on it?....thats what i have been trying to ask people about but no-one seems to know.

I meant I wouldn't have just a buggy board! I have just a buggy pod, and she can sleep in it!

NoBiggy · 14/04/2007 10:30

Twinmummyx2 if it has a toddler step it's very well hidden!

If it's that little ledge at the back you're talking about, that's for hoiking it up on to pavements. It's not meant for standing on, and there's no room for a toddler body there, iyswim.

Twinmummyx2 · 14/04/2007 10:38

Yes that is what i am on about...apparently..so i am told it wasn't designed originally for a toddler to stand on, but a lot of parents use it for that....and now the new pliko out this year has been altered so that it is a place where a 2nd child can stand....i was posting to see if anybody had seen the new one.

On the mamas and papas website it is referred to as a toddler step...but no picture of it....

i was wondering of other parents experiences of it before i buy one for my twins.

NoBiggy · 14/04/2007 10:43

Mine is pretty old, and any toddler stood on that step would have a very uncomfortable time (they'd have a face full of hood for a start!)

Twinmummyx2 · 14/04/2007 10:49

lol...awwww i guess it depends on the tallness of the child then....

All other children back to school on Monday so i will go to the shop and try it out!!! Then i'll know!

Yes deffo get a double! My DS was over 2.5 when DD born and when we went for days out I ended up pushing buggy and carrying DD in a sling, too much like hard work and completely knackering!

When they are tired they don't want to stand on the board, they want to sit in the puchchair that their younger sibling is hogging.

I bought a cheap Graco one for jsut over £100 and it steers well and does the job, you don't have to spend loads but it will be worth it

Dragonhart · 14/04/2007 17:22

The age gap between mine is just under 18months and I wouldnt be without my double. I do sometimes use a sling and a single esp for the bus but my dd2 is pretty light. DS1 was heavy and I wouldnt have been able to do it with him.

I have a Bebe Confort Twin Club which is a tandem you can use with a carry cot/car seat and has seats which face either way. Love it but I think all doubles are a bit of a bugger to push as you are pushing the weight of two.

Thanks for the replies
I think im going to get a cheapish double buggy for when im going to be out all day on my own.
Especially as it will be winter and if the weather is bad i wont want ds getting soaked etc.
Then i will also have the pliko and single buggy if ive just got 1 of them out with me.

twinmummy
just thought id let you know yes m and p do now state that its classed as atoddler step, the european brand pegperego(who they are made by) have always classd this very small foot rest as a toddler step,

but uk has always said it doesnt confirm to standards, i dont know what they have done to change it but it still looks identical, and is very tiny not much bigger than what i call a kick bar on maclaren, what you push on the lock open with your foot,

also i have the catalogue which does have a picture of it in use and it shows you with the hood OFF because it would be in toddlers face if it were in use as nobiggy said.

this would be because of better weather in europ most pliko/p3 are sold without hods these are an optional extra over there

please beleive me they havent changed any features at all just got uk standards to use soemthing that already exits, but is rubbish,

are you near a mamas and papas store u could visist to test one out u would see what we mean

hth

Twinmummyx2 · 15/04/2007 07:45

hmmmmm that is disappointing..i was thinking i was on to a plan with this one...lol

So can the hoods be taken of all plikos? i live in channel islands so we have mostly lovely weather...i think i will go and see the shop on monday..they are meant to be closing down anyway so depends on how cheap they are. I need a single buggy anyway for when DP goes to town ..he apparently can't handle the twins ....but would take one if we had a single buggy ....must solve that little problem for him ..lol

Thanks for letting me know.xx

you can stand toddlers on the back of most buggies you know. you put their feet on the back (folding mechanism or wherever is the right height) and get them to put their arms over your arms as you push. you're holding them a little but not much at all really and they love it, plus they can't get down too easily so no danger of them dodging off into traffic
