I need a nappy that is absorbant, relatively quick drying, preferably natural materials and slim fitting if possible! Are there any nappies that meet my criteria???

I think you will have all the bamboo nappy users on here in a minute singing their praises

tutu100 · 12/04/2007 22:21

bamboo is not quick drying. I think the slimmest quickest drying nappy I own is a tots bots white terry nappy, but my ds is now 2 so they don't look as big on him. If your baby is a lot younger they do seem very bulky.

Washersaurus · 12/04/2007 22:28

sorry I use normal tots bots too so don't really know about bamboo ones - I don't find my tots quick drying at all, but need their absorbancy.

Microfibre is slim but absorbant - I sometimes pop a microfibre booster in my motherease onesize to boost their absorbancy.

try hemp- slimish fitting and natural, but doesn't dry very quickly....

if you want real nappies, you're going to have to get used to the fat bum look- have you tried the Nappy Lady's questionnaire?

tissy · 12/04/2007 22:34

prefolds, or folded terries would be quick drying, but Tots are the BEST for poo containment.... you need to decide what you REALLY want!

most people seem to have a mix of nappies, so some that are quick drying but bulky and others that are slim fitting but slow to dry! Seems that the most absorbent ones are by nature slow to dry (e.g. bamboozles, wambamboo, hemp) Or just accept you'll have to wash more often/buy more nappies?

snugglebumnappies · 13/04/2007 09:58

I would go for a Baby BeeHInds Hemp Birth to Potty, or Motherease do Sandy's and One Size in a lovely organic cotton (but you may need to boost them)

Thanks for the replies girls - I am currently trying out a few brands of nappies and i'm not entirely happy with the results so far

My daughter is 3 months old so yes some of the nappies do look rather large on her!

I have both Wbb which i find take forever to dry and I also have rainbow bots which also take ages to dry!

Both of these i am not finding great on the absorbant front maybe i have a heavy wetter!?
and i'm not really happy with the fit around the leg on the wbb

Basically i wanted some suggestions on other types of nappy i might find better.

bamboo tots bots? i love mine. dd is a very heavy wetter as well

sweetas · 13/04/2007 17:45

forgot to say yes i have tried the nappy lady questionnaire and i didn't find it very useful - came back with fluffles which are not a natural material and i have heard and read something about the material not being very breatable in warm weather. Am i right in saying that the nappy lady will only suggest nappys that they sell?

The fat bum look doesn't bother me at all i am thinking more for comfort she is only a little thing - rather long though!!

ANANGELWITHIN- Do they take ages to dry?

OP posts:
AnAngelWithin · 13/04/2007 17:47

i leave them on the airer over night then just pop them in the tumbler for half an hour on a low heat to soften them up

sweetas · 13/04/2007 17:57

Argh! I don't have a tumble dryer but i am seriously considering getting one. How long do you think they would take to line dry in this weather? Also what is fit on the leg like - the ones i have tried so far seem to be loose even though i am putting them on as tight as i can

OP posts:
AnAngelWithin · 13/04/2007 18:20

dd is quite slim and they fitted her ok. i founf the fit on the bamboo better than the rainbow tots. more elasticy somehow. wouldnt think they would take long to line dry to be honest. Ive not line dried mine before

tutu100 · 13/04/2007 18:24

I second the choice for a hemp and cotton baby beehinds. They are very absorbant but need to be washed like 10 times before you can appreciate maximum absorbancy. I have one and it lines dries in about 4 hours on a dry day. The only two draw backs I have found to this nappy are 1) if you don't tumble it it gets a bit stiff but that is easily remedied by rubbing it against itself and 2) If you have a baby with a long body it will probably outgrow it before potty training. My son still fits it at 22 months in the waist but it has become too low slung for me to use now. The fit round the leg holes is very good. I have never had a leak with it, although I didn't have it back in the explosive bf poo days though.

tutu100 · 13/04/2007 18:26

Sorry forgot to say my popper bamboozles take about 6-7 hours to line dry on a fairly warm and dry day although last summer my applix ones did dry in around four hours on the really baking hot days. I think that the popper bamboozles dry slightly quicker than the applix ones IMO.

nappyzone · 13/04/2007 19:43

i use pockets mainly (happy heiny and fuzzis) and coz they seperate into two they dry in a couple of hrs. Not natural material though but slim fitting and great for quick turnaround in the washer. i have wbb to which i love but do take a while longer to dry hence you need a few, i use for longer nap periods, it helps to have a mix i think for differnt situations. i have just got some new wbb stock in today and the pistachio ones are just so cute.
