Getting the baby off you and into the crib/cot

Did or do any of you find you had/have a problem similar to mine? You've just suceeded in getting your very colicy & crying baby to sleep by holding her in your arms, you try and put her into the crib and she starts crying again. Tried putting my scent on her blanket and also using a hot water bottle to pre warm it. My thought would be a crib/cot blanket with a heartbeat in it, do you think this is something that you've ever thought that mums need?

Agree with Twiglett. Signs of a deep sleep are: even, slow breathing & floppy limbs (i.e. you can lift the arm up and it's loose - drops back without effort).

Is this a lying on back problem at all? Mine sometimes goes down more happily on her side...

You can raise a normal matress by putting a rolled up towel underneath one end.

Thanks for the advice, she does eventually go to sleep, but I was trying to think more on the lines of providing..say...a mattress or blanket with a heartbeat in it, so that it sounds like mine, and then she would still think she's next to me! Do you think this would be a good idea & would it work ?

some people find a ticking clock beside the cot works...similar idea to heartbeat

You can get heartbeat/white noise generator thingumies... I wrote a summary page with all the things I found useful for ds2's colic here - there are two links under the "sleep" section for white noise generators that we like/ds2 likes with their pros and cons. I've given you the page link in case you find any of the other stuff we tried useful too.

Ive also read that a electric toothbrush works as the sound and slight vibration comfort the baby
