Mid range, not the kind where they sit side by side. DS will be 16mths when new baby comes.

Any ideas?

I got mine from MOthercare, they sit behind one another. I had no problems with it and still use it a year later (age 1 and 3). It was £132 and is called pheonix tandem, its now £119!

PregnantGrrrl · 09/04/2007 14:29

thanks- we have a Mothercare, so i'll go and see what it's like to handle.

anyone else?

I'd recommend the Jane Powertwin - very light and easy to push.

I had a mothercare one, where one of them is in front, and t'other one is behind. Dd2 was 14 months when ds was born.

It was great while ds was tiny, but then they started to fight over who was going in front, and I got a side by side one which suited them much, much better.

ChaCha · 09/04/2007 17:35

Congratulations.

I would definitely recommend the Jane Power Twin too. I am using it at the moment and it is fantastic!! DS1 is 16mths and DS2 2 months and it is just great to take out and I walk miles with my kids. Very light, compact, easy to handle and DS1 really likes it too. Rain cover is great, keeps them both really snug and warm. I got mine from ebay, it was a local pick up, think i paid just under £200, wasn't going to buy a new one when we'd already bought a Jane for DS1, so might be an idea to have a look there. This one was in fab condition, and as i remember the general P&P was around 30quid. HTH

ChaCha · 09/04/2007 17:37

General being for majority of jane's.

Sqonky - can see that happening here LOL :-)
How old are your DC now?

hana · 09/04/2007 17:38

also have a powertwin, my gap is 21 months.
I'd buy from a reputable shop - we bought ours online and did have some problems _ next time I'd spend the extra and buy from John Lewis or similar.

WonkySquonky · 09/04/2007 17:40

chacha: dd2 will be 3 in June and ds is 19mo. Dd2 walks everywhere now, so we just have a little cheapo buggy for ds.

WonkySquonky · 09/04/2007 17:43

my friend had one of these which she swore by

christywhisty · 09/04/2007 17:54

Those Phil and Teds are horrible, its like putting the baby in the shopping basket. They are also unstable and the baby underneath can get their fingers caught in the wheels. How it got through health and safety I don't know.

NannyL · 09/04/2007 17:57

I use a phil and Teds to and it really is FAB...

thoigh it isnt side by side like you specify you will be able to fit it through every door with ease, and when the eldest is walking it turns into single super dooper off road buggy!

NannyL · 09/04/2007 17:59

if you have the cocoon with the phil and teds it not like putting baby in the shoppng basket at all.... more like tucking them up snuggly in bed.

u can get finger cgaurds for the wheels as well. my little one used to touch the wheels but never got them caught or even nearly caught either.

Not had a problem with them being unstable... so long as there is always a child in the front and the back child doesnt weigh over 15kg as per instructions its fine

worzella · 09/04/2007 18:10

another vote for the Phil and Teds - it's been great so far and managed the beach in Devon fine today!

yomellamoHelly · 09/04/2007 19:21

Have a Cosatto Duet Lite. LOVE it. Ds2 is really comfy and cosy in the back and ds1 loves being in the driving seat. Know those who have the P&T who struggle to fill the back seat.
CDL also doesn't break the bank, folds up to nothing and fits in a small car boot and leaves some room for everything else you need.

amyjade · 09/04/2007 19:41

Another Phil and Teds fan here !!
There is 17 months between my two and i'v had no problems with it. It is one of the smallest double buggies on the market and perfect for off road and for shopping.
Mine cost around £350 with the cocoon and double kit.

LittleMonkiesMum · 09/04/2007 20:00

i love my P&T, it's really liberating. A friend of mine has the Jane one, think it's called power twin, not side by side, and she loves it. The only reason I would consider it(and possibly wish I had) is if I was going to be going away for weekend etc on train as I think I'm right in saying that car seats can slot in to it, whereas obvoiusly with P & T you've got to carry the car seats seperately. Not happening!

Mountain Buggy i have one it is fab!

TuttiFrutti · 10/04/2007 19:51

Phil and Teds is much better IMO than the Mothercare tandem one or the Jane Powertwin - I test drove them all.

Pollyanna · 10/04/2007 19:56

mountain buggy is by far the best ime. I have had one of those, a powertwin and a phil and teds (oh as well as a umbrella folding one and the graco one for that matter!) In my defence I have alot of children .

It isn't mid-range but has a very good resale value on ebay.

liquidclocks · 10/04/2007 20:01

What about a phil and teds from ebay?

Been using mine for about a year now, six months in single mode for DS1 and then as a double for two after DS2 came along - no problems save one puncture and now I just carry a spare inner and pump. Love it!
