Newborn wakes for feed every 2 hours is this normal

Just that really. In the day she sleeps well, wakes for a feed every 2-3 hours but at night she wakes every 2 hours maybe less. Is this just to be expected with her being so new or is there anything I can do? I literally know nothing.

Normal Smile

divafever99 · 04/10/2017 15:00

Very normal, both mine were the same. Eventually went to 3 hourly.

KalaLaka · 04/10/2017 15:00

Very normal (but obviously knackering). Hope you're ok, first 2 months are intense!

That's a picture of the size of a baby's stomach (if I've linked correctly!)

So the baby fills up quickly, empties quickly and needs more!

fakenamefornow · 04/10/2017 15:02

I think it is, sorry!

PineappleScrunchie · 04/10/2017 15:02

That's quite good I'm afraid!

BikeRunSki · 04/10/2017 15:04

Perfectly normal.

Meepmoop · 04/10/2017 15:04

It's normal, by son is 10 weeks and is now beginning to stretch out to 4/5 hours and randomly had 8 hours last night

Needalifeoverhaul · 04/10/2017 15:06

Mine still wakes like clockwork every 2 and a half hours at five monthsSad Are you bf or formula feeding? It's knackering isn't it! I co sleep now as makes it a bit easier but if you're formula feeding it's not as easy! How old is your little one?

GotToGetMyFingerOut · 04/10/2017 15:06

Yeah that's normal. Mine were even less than that. I was needing matchsticks to keep me eyes open.

Congrats on the birth of your baby.

AdalindSchade · 04/10/2017 15:07

Do you have a health visitor to ask about this stuff

birdiebirdiewoofwoof · 04/10/2017 15:07

Very normal. Hang in there and rest when you get the chance! It's so tough in those first weeks but they do start sleeping longer after a while.

penguinpurple · 04/10/2017 15:11

Normal. Mine's the same (nearly 3 months).

KarateKitten · 04/10/2017 15:11

Yep, normal.

just5morepeas · 04/10/2017 15:15

Normal. Just keep telling yourself that it wont last forever - even if it feels that way at the time!

Mandraki · 04/10/2017 15:16

Long as it’s normal! It is knackering, but if it’s normal that’s fine, I just wanted to check there wasn’t something I could do to help her sleep longer.

GlennRheeismyfavourite · 04/10/2017 18:23

Mines 5 weeks - 12, 3am, 6am, 8.40am for us x

waterrat · 04/10/2017 18:52

sorry to say but normal. It passes !

Aquamarine1029 · 04/10/2017 22:41

Totally normal. It's critical for their development to eat very frequently.

user1493413286 · 08/10/2017 22:02

When my newborn was doing this I was told my health professional to wake her in the day to feed her every 2 hours then at night she’d go more like every 2-3 hours as I was told it’d encourage her body clock to adjust to night and day. It might sound like a small change but having the extra hour at night of her going every 3 hours was amazing

Cutesbabasmummy · 09/10/2017 10:27

Sadly its totally normal.

ODog · 09/10/2017 22:03

As others have said, it is completely normal, if not the good end of normal and will be normal for the foreseeable future. Learn to feed lying down in bed on your side and consider safe cosleeping. These things saved me in the early days.
