Oh Dear God we've lost 'Softie'

On hols in Spain.
"DD (20mo) is fairly well behaved..." we said..."let's do things the Spanish way and take her out for dinner this evening".
Well FML. Had terrible meal that cost €50 but worse than that... WORSE...
We've lost Softie. Somewhere in small Spanish town. Retraced steps, asked in every restaurant/bar, emptied out bag, taken pushchair apart, looked online for replacement. Nada.

It's fine though, it's not like she's never had a night without it since she was a month old.

Please help! It's called Ollie the Owl Soother - goo.gl/images/BCb6fz

Wtf am I going to do? Make one from fucking scratch? I ~can barely see on a nametag~ don't know where I would find the fabric.

Would she have stashed him somewhere 'safe'? Can you remember where you last saw her with it? Is her language good enough to give you a clue? I'm not sure how to cope with tonight, but I'd have another look in the morning. I had my lost teddy handed into the police station as a child, might be worth a shot? (Or a tourist office if there is one).

Sympathies though. 3yo DD1 lost a penguin about 4 months ago after she ran off in Ikea and "put it to bed" (then couldn't remember which bed it was in). We searched every fucking bed in the section as well as all the drawers, wardrobes etc. No luck, it just disappeared. It was never handed in and she still goes on about it now. I'm hoping she's old enough for it to be a hard lesson learned. Thankfully it wasn't one she's reliant on to get to sleep but it was brand new and bought from pocket money it'd taken her 2 months to save Sad

Thanks that's kind but we've run out of places to look - only had collapsible buggy and my smallish handbag. She's asleep now (dozed off in car home) but she's going to be a bit heartbroken. And it's all my stupidity. I knew I shouldn't have taken it out. So fucking cross with myself. Angry

Shes growing up and no longer a baby. Look Softie has become a big girl too... www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Jellycat-Ollie-Owl-Plush-Comforter-/322794235149?hash=item4b2809250d:g:chUAAOSwtH5Zk-DI

DDs favourite soft toy she cuddles at night is one of the sainsburys limited edition Mogs from 2 years ago. Mog does not leave the house unless we are going away and even then Mog stays on the bed where we are staying.

High five to liquidrevolution for the best suggestion; I'd just say that Ollie is visiting his relatives for a couple of days and that he'll be back soon, he's a grown up now so he's allowed to go on holidays sometimes himself.

Oh god my sympathies BTW. These threads make me so sad. And there's always some bell who says "always buy two of the same toy in case this happens". Point - missed.

Good luck. She's obviously going to be utterly devastated at sleeping teddyless but just pray for a quick delivery of the "grown up" Ollie

AWwwwww I really feel for you and your dd. My ds would be lost without his beloved bear. And fwiw I did buy his another exactly the same Bear just in case but the first bear is so well loved it looks like a totally different bear from it’s ‘twin’
Maybe try another look in the morning, retrace your steps stopping at shops and cafes you pass and ask inside - showing photos of softie.
