Hi - I am thinking of doing a course or a degree in child or adult psychology or counselling. is there anyone that can give me some names of what are the best online institutions to study? I have two small children (twins) so I am unable to undertake courses that require me to do (lots of) counselling as I simply do not have the time. I am not exactly clear what I want to do (perhaps specialise in children and parent relationships) except that I love and always have psychology and how our mind works...and how powerful our mind is. I do hold a law degree but its not an option to go back into law.... any advice is welcome thanks so much

My dd is just finishing her BSc Psychology online with The University of Derby, I don't know what other similar courses they do, but she is considering going on to do her MSc with them as well. You can start at the beginning of any of their trimesters (terms).

If you go to the BPS website they have a careers flow chart that walks you step by step through the different careers in psychology. All of them require a psychology degree or in your case, a masters conversion- you can do this online. Further specialist study that will then allow you to practise can’t be done online as much like teaching, you have to so placements, have supervision, show competency to practise etc.

Good luck - I’m a teacher and would love to retrain as a play psychotherapist but would have to not only pay for the Masters but also a full time nursery for to DS - not doable sadly.

Hi Badgerhead,

I realise that this thread is several months old but I was just wondering how your daughter found the course?

Hi, she found the course good, but has now decided to do her Masters with the University of Ulster as that is cheaper & a shorter course.
