Imagine you have one day each week to yourself. Assume you have overcome the guilt...you have 6-7 hours...it’s a weekday. How would you use it??

Lie-in with a book and coffee, quick blast of housework, swimming, nice shower, nap, tv/sofa.

No guilt!

Gillian1980 · 30/09/2017 18:01

I book the odd day off work while dh is at work and dd is at nursery and do exactly as above.

Have also done cinema, spa day, shopping ...

Sleep

fruitpastille · 30/09/2017 18:09

I've recently had this! So far I've been pretty busy as sorting out house renovation stuff. I spent time going to choose tiles/floor etc. But have managed a coffee with friends as well. The time goes in a flash... Each week I've been determined to spend the following week lounging around eating chocolate and watching films/reading but it is yet to happen.

Liz38 · 30/09/2017 18:17

I do. Used to be two now down to one. I exercise and then do washing, ironing, cleaning, batch cooking... but i occasionally "take one off" and have fun. Next week I'm going clothes shopping Smile

bumblebee77 · 30/09/2017 18:28

As a regular thing I'd allocate 1 or 2 hours to getting on top of those niggly little jobs that pile up.
Then I'd have me time, sleep, read, walk, watch tv, catch up with friends and eat at a nice cafe. Assuming dc is happy and well cared for, no guilt is required.

JayDot500 · 30/09/2017 20:34

I had 20mins this morning! Lay in bed resting my aching legs. Then DH returned with DS, who immediately located me and demanded Peppa.

6-7 hours: a bath, then a book in bed with tea and biscuits on tap.

NapQueen · 30/09/2017 20:37

If I could keep on top of the rest of the stuff I usually do in the week then I would:-

go back to bed after the school run and set my alarm for 11am. Up, showered and dressed, brunch and a book either at home or out somewhere. Then a mooch round the shops (cant do that any more!) or once in a while a movie or a swim.

Greylilypad · 30/09/2017 20:37

Lie in, workout, brunch or lunch, book and nap

Ohwell14 · 30/09/2017 20:38

Definetly sleep, baby is only a few weeks only and i am constantly exhausted. And then I would hoover every inch of my house. I only get to do a quick rush round with it now as baby is scared of it and screams when it comes on Confused

confusedandemployed · 30/09/2017 20:39

Dog walk, gym, a mooch around the shops and a long lunch with a friend and wine.

goteam · 30/09/2017 20:45

I have two days off. One of them i go to the gym, then do something cultured like gallery etc and also do a few online courses. The second one I stay in after the school run and listen to the radio, plus get the house in order so we don't have to worry about it over the weekend. I need these two days off as I do all the school run, after school stuff with the kids. The trade off is that I do a 3 day working week. Seems fair to me!

Sparrowlegs248 · 30/09/2017 20:48

Lie in/read in bed. 1-2 hours Housework. Lie in/read in bed.

mindutopia · 01/10/2017 08:51

If money wasn't an object, I would go to the spa for the day (I do this maybe twice a year, as a birthday or other present, obviously though not on a regular basis).

A few times I also just go enjoy a day in a city nearby by myself. Coffee and reading a book, nice lunch alone in peace with a few glasses of wine (I take the train so don't need to worry about driving), shopping, visiting a museum or market, whatever I want. I leave my husband to sort the school run and dinner and come home by late afternoon/early evening. It's wonderful. No guilt at all.

Changerofname987654321 · 01/10/2017 08:53

I have this every week and I use it to catch up with work (teacher).

QuilliamCakespeare · 01/10/2017 08:57

Lie in, breakfast in bed, swim, child-free cafe for coffee and a book, back to bed for films and cuddles with DH.

Spudlet · 01/10/2017 08:57

Studying. I'd make myself a second nice coffee (most days I limit myself to one), light the fire, and curl up in the big armchair with my books and the internet and really try and crack on.

Actually, dh has semi-committed to taking ds out this afternoon, so that's what I have planned if this should work out!

sheepflower · 01/10/2017 09:04

Assuming this doesn't have to include housework, decorating, kids stuff etc. and money's no object! I'd go mountain biking or running/ gym then read, watch crap telly (homes under the hammer!), have a lovely lunch with a friend then a walk and after do some baking/ posh cooking.

BikeRunSki · 01/10/2017 09:06

Both dc are now in school and I work 4 days a week. I have Mondays "off". I do some exercise - long bike ride, swim or run. Go shopping - food, kids clothes, whatever else needs getting, household admin. Batch cookkng. Car serving, boiler servicing, haircut, medical appts etc. Because it's Mondays there are a lot of Bank Hols and Inset days etc too. Those 6 hrs from 9 am to 3 pm pass very quickly!
