..... do you think it may be time to take off the sides of her cot bed? and make a big deal of her being a big girl now as she seems to take "being a big girl" as a compliment / good thing?

My dd1 was in her bed in August and her 2nd b'day was in September

Sez23 · 07/04/2007 21:35

might mean you don't have to worry wbout her climbing out, but you also risk her wondering around at all hours as she 'can't sleep'

mad4girls · 07/04/2007 21:36

yeah woulde probably move her out moved dd1 out at about 16 mths coz she was climbing out too. they say the child is more in danger of getting hurt falling from the side of cot than from bed to floor

she had a quite a big room at time and we put her in bed with cot next to it to make her feel safe for about 6 weeks

so any worries u could try that

good luck

while her bedroom not small, it's not that big either. it just about fits her cotbed, big wardrobe (we bought a big one instead of a "nursery" one so it would last her), chest of drawers for folded clothes and a rocking chair with alitle bit of floor space. so would really have to use cushions which would be partly under her bed.

oh gawd. i thought it owuld last a bit longer than that! now have to find the instructions on how to change it from a cot bed to normal bed!

if you can't find them, brute force normally works

fransmom · 07/04/2007 21:43

get a time when you feel fed up, then vent some anger on it. the sides will be off in no time

fransmom · 07/04/2007 21:47

oh!!!!!!!!

at the moment i'm up and down. SOMEONE is saying they're scared of the dark, even though they have three night lights

MerlinsBeard · 08/04/2007 14:48

How did it go fransmom? did you take the side off?(ty for link ) I was up and down about 900 times before i bellowed for some "flipping peace" . This miorning they were up super early its been a "fun" day so far!

fransmom · 08/04/2007 18:46

haven't done it yet (the cot bed that is).

that's ok mom.

anyway. i told dp this morning what she had tried to do and even he said that maybe we should remove the sides soon but that he also thought that we had a bit more time. oh well. our baby girl growing up.

it hink that it's about this time we should get a stair gate on her door. any ideas? tia

fransmom take just one side off and then put a bedguard on the other side.Moved both of mine at 12mths for different reasons. Worked for DS as it was safer but he stayed in the bed. With Dd I just put her into a toddler bed and have had no problems at all but she never tried to get out the cot and she doesnt move out of the bed unless I have opened her curtains!!
