Acceptable to let 3yo DS wee at edge of playground?

Is it deemed acceptable to allow your (not long out of nappies) 3yo to have a little wee in the bushes in the corner of the playground, to avoid having an accident? For context, the playground is semi-rural and has lots of greenery along two edges to soak up aforementioned piddle...

OK or not OK?

"Piss is piss. Of course it's not acceptable. Would you leave your own urine there?"

There's a big differerence between random man piss, and small toddler piss. Also, foxes, dogs, cats, and all other fauna piss wherever the fuck they like.

You're being a tit to worry about a tiny bit of toddler piss up against a tree.

SheRaaarghPrincessOfPower · 24/09/2017 00:39

It's a moot point anyway., if a toddler is in a playground and needs a wee then they are going to wee anyway even if they wet themselves. what's the point in making them wait?

user1499786242 · 24/09/2017 07:04

Perfectly fine
And if I saw a little kid having a wee into a bush I wouldn't give a flying fuck!
Anyone who does is abit strange? Or just a twat?

No not acceptable, as a one of maybe.

Mol1628 · 24/09/2017 07:08

I think it's fine in an emergency if out of sight from kids and not in an open area where they play.

I always carry a bottle with me and if DS suddenly needs a wee and I can't see any toilets I take him somewhere discreet and he wees on the bottle. I then either tip it down a drain if there is one otherwise I flush it down the loo when we get home.

My DH however would just let him wee in a bush Hmm

Iheartjordanknight · 24/09/2017 07:48

Yes I think it's fine.

When mine were training we carried a travel potty when out, because I could never be sure there there would be a bush at the time and also never sure it would just be a wee. But I don't think there is a problem with toddlers peeing anywhere really

Coffeetasteslikeshit · 24/09/2017 07:48

I think it's fine. It's only wee.

PosiePootlePerkins · 24/09/2017 07:48

I always used to carry one of those potties with the disposable liners with me. Wee into the potty (you can hold it if they're standing up so it catches the wee), tie up the bag, dispose of it in bin. Sorted.

DuckWaddle · 24/09/2017 07:54

Yes, it's absolutely fine in my opinion. Shocked by the number who say it's not. In a bush, away from where the kids play is absolutely fine in my opinion!!

Slartybartfast · 24/09/2017 08:03

it is ok for boys though.
what would you do with a 3 year old girl.
bring a potty with you?
and what happens if it was a poo?

Slartybartfast · 24/09/2017 08:03

I remember seeing a toddler weeing in the school playground, mum whipped out a potty.
now i thought that was unnecessary as they could have used the loos in the school.

newdaylight · 24/09/2017 08:06

Absolutely acceptable.

My friends have a fold out portable potty which these bags clip into and their DD can wee into there. I think that's a good idea. Still means she wees in public which obviously some on this thread will be offended by, but she carries on training and using the potty and it's tidy. She decided she didn't want to use nappies anymore after about 20 months... but when she was out she would need to wee alot

newdaylight · 24/09/2017 08:08

Just pick her up so she wees on to the ground, it's not very hard.

I really hope the post about "Although I will never ever forget the day we stopped on the side of a motor way going to the seaside to let potty training dd wee" is just badly worded. Stopping on the side of a motorway is INSANELY dangerous, for any reason. All the more so when a small mobile child is involved. Please don't ever do this again - or please let it be that you were in an official lay-by site or something. Nobody should ever stop on a motorway unless there is a dire emergency.

sycamore54321 · 24/09/2017 15:03

On topic, playgrounds are often areas where smaller siblings are put down to crawl about while older ones play, so definitely not in the playground. Best would be to bring a potty and empty appropriately into a drain or loo, next best somewhere very discreet outside the official playground area. Peeing inside the boundaries, no.

Cranb0rne · 24/09/2017 15:11

Why not just take a travel potty?

Threenme · 24/09/2017 15:23

No sycamore I just dangled her out of the window while the car was still moving! Of course it was an 'official layby' or whatever you want to call it. It was a rest stop. Do you honestly think anyone would stop the car somewhere dangerous to let their kid pee. No and that's probably why no one else has commented on the wording.

Mol1628 · 24/09/2017 15:29

I've seen people stopped on the hard shoulder to let kids wee. It's mad.

Threenme · 24/09/2017 17:51

Well rest assured mol I'm not one of them!!!!!

CottonSock · 24/09/2017 17:52

Fine. Except on mumsnet

LovingLola · 24/09/2017 17:55

This was not an uncommon occurrence when my pair were recently trained pre schoolers. Don't have an issue with it. It would have been more distressing for them to have wet themselves.

sycamore54321 · 24/09/2017 20:04

"Do you honestly think anyone would stop the car somewhere dangerous to let their kid pee. No and that's probably why no one else has commented on the wording."

Yes. I've seen this. I've seen grown men peeing on the side of motorways. I've seen drivers taking mobile phone calls while stopped on the side of motorways. And I've seen parents with small children peeing on the side of motorways. And plenty of people stopped for I don't know what reason on the side of motorways. Haven't you? It terrifies me. So if someone says they stopped on the side of a motorway for a child to take a wee, my experience tells me that this is entirely plausible. Hence my post.

Threenme · 24/09/2017 21:18

You must spend a lot of time on motorways and be very unlucky that people want to pee so much in front of you!
