Baby vomiting laying on back

DD (7 weeks) was napping earlier and woke up vomitting, she had turned her head to the side but then back again with mouth still full of vomit. I picked her up straightaway but am terrified of her choking overnight if she is sick again. Some reassurance would help me avoid a completely sleepless night!

It will be ok.

One of mine once did projectile vomit that went upwards a fair way then landed all over face and head. Left a lovely vomit halo when I picked her up.

It happens, don't sweat it. But maybe try winding a bit more before laying baby down. Raising one end of the cot may also help

I think at this age they just swallow the vomit? Sounds gross but I'm sure they're incapable of choking on it.

Honestly its fine. Dd is 3 months old and a puker. It just comes out of her mouth or she swallows it. The amount of washing she generates- especially sheets is astronomical but never had any choking incidents.

Thank you for the reassurance, I think I knew really that it would be ok but with the sleep deprivation everything worries me (this is pfb if you couldn't tell)
I really struggle to get wind from her, feel like I spend ages rubbing/patting her back and she gets restless. We were using infacol which seemed to help so will try a bit of that again.

Both my babies were really really sicky so constantly bringing up milk and always slept on their backs.

My daughter was in neonatal for ages & one of the best tips I got for winding her from the nurses was to sit her on my knee, holding her across the chest & back to support her head & gently rotate her body in small circles. This really helped bring her wind up. X
