Warmish raincoat for toddler boy??

upsidedown2017 · 18/09/2017 20:34

What raincoats are your toddlers wearing? I need something completely leakproof and kinda warm as barely into autumn and it's already so cold! I'd like it to last through to spring as his only coat so I guess I'll add layers when it gets even colder.

Any ideas??

We have a lovely one from Frugi that I picked up in a sale earlier in the year. Really good quality and totally waterproof

Mine always has Hatley coats - they are waterproof, warmish and come in lovely patterns. They are pricey but you can often get them in T K Maxx for about £15. I've layered them over frugi snuggle fleeces when it is colder.

I got my ds this from Tesco

Mountain warehouse have served us well every year so far!

musicalfrog · 18/09/2017 21:33

I just got one from Go Outdoors they had a fair bit of choice.

Polarn O Pret with the removable fleece insert. It is hand down the best jacket he's ever had and I'm actually looking forward to playing outside this winter as I know he'll be warm, dry and cosy.

redheadbarmaid · 18/09/2017 21:36

Second mountain warehouse, just bought a lovely one for ds2 over the weekend.
Our local one has a whole floor of clearance items so it was a bargain too

AlbusPercival · 18/09/2017 21:37

I love yhe frugi adventure coats

Lowdoorinthewal1 · 18/09/2017 21:38

I came to say the Polarn fleece/ raincoat combo. Each coat very useful on its own and together a great winter coat. DS has had them every season from 2-7.

Sadly, because he is so tall he only has one size left to go. I don't know what we will do!

Lowdoorinthewal1 · 18/09/2017 21:39

BTW He has the sage green one this year and it is gorgeous. The colour is much nicer than it looks on the website.

We get the Boden fleece lined ones that are waterproof.

Whynotnowbaby · 18/09/2017 21:45

This thread has made me chuckle a little bit, just because I know that Frugi/Polarn/Hatley/Boden coats are fab but it just seems so perfectly Mumsnet. I have bought DS lovely warm, waterproof coats in both Sainsbury's and M and S.

bonzo77 · 18/09/2017 21:47

I like the H&M soft shell ones. Cute, warm enough for autumn / spring and not too pricey.

skankingpiglet · 18/09/2017 21:51

3yo DD1 has got a Tog24 coat this year. It has a wind/waterproof outer shell with a removable zip-in fleece, and other nice features you'd expect of an 'outdoor' brand like a wired peaked hood. It looks really warm and was £40. I've used their stuff myself for skiing and walking and have been very happy with it, so hopefully this will be up to the job too!
I imagine the Frugi coats mentioned above will be good too as their clothes are always good quality. We also have one of their snuggle fleeces for DD1 this year.

Jojo maman bebe do a lovely three-in-one coat that is a waterproof jacket and a fleecy jacket. It's a bit pricier than tesco/asda but it's very warm and waterproof and they do matching fleece lined waterproof trousers. The little boy I look after has had two, the first lasted him two years, the second he's on his third winter with so they are pretty hard wearing and long lasting if you buy a generous size!

InDubiousBattle · 18/09/2017 21:54

Have a look on Toby Tiger on line. Ds has a gorgeous, fleece lined rain coat from there. I don't drive and we walk loads so ds's coats need to be waterproof!

Tidypidy · 18/09/2017 21:57

Jojo maman Bebe do a lovely reversible fleece lined waterproof. I bought one for dc1 9 years ago and it's now on dc3! It goes through the wash and it still smart enough for school. Was £22 originally and worth every penny.

So many great suggestions! Thank you!

A shitty £2 in the sale from Sainsbury's Thomas one that he insists on wearing despite being bought numerous stylish smart ones 😵
