16 year old babysitting, would you be ok with it?

Me and my daughters dad aren't together, but getting on ok.
He's just dropped DD off and asked if I'd be ok with his youngest brother babysitting next Saturday. I'm already going out and it's his night to have DD. He's 16, 17 in November, he's not babysat for us before and I'm not sure. He's reasonably mature, he's left home alone while his mum works and stuff but I just don't know if I feel comfortable with it.
Although I'm aware it's not really my desision to make. He is asking and says if I'm not comfortable he just won't go out.

I don't know if I'm just being a bit PFB or not.
I did babysit myself at younger than that and he's really good when he's with her. I don't think he's ever changed her nappy, or got a bottle ready (expressed milk so no making it up) but he has fed her.

If he's 2 buses away he will not be able to get back quickly if his brother needs help.
He could get a taxi back if it is important.

No from me as well due to baby's age.

I babysit for very young children, inc babies, from younger than this. My 15y dd would be more than capable. She'd possibly need some tutorial on changing a nappy and preparing a bottle etc beforehand, but would be more than capable once shown. She's only changed a couple of nappies (and only wet ones) in the past and, although has fed a baby bottles, hasn't made up a feed before.

So I'd say - if he's willing to spend some time teaching/being taught how to do these things beforehand, then I'd be happy for a 16/17 year old family member to babysit.

A 16y is plenty old enough ime though it does very much depend on the individual too.

I know, I did too Hulababy I did spend a lot of time with said babies though so had done nappies and stuff loads, before I was left alone.
Our DD is the only recent family baby, they have cousins who are 7/8 at the youngest. He has babysat with his gf for her siblings but they're school age (not sure of exact ages) she won't be with him though. He's great at playing with her and stuff and like I said it's not that I don't trust him, he's lovely and quite a sensible teen. Not sure how he'll feel about nappy changing and wonder if he's thought about that..

I just don't really know! I might ask my ex's mum if she thinks he'd be ok or not.

How much time could you realistically get him to spend with baby beforehand to show him what/how to do things. If he is that interested, he'd give it a go if time.

I wouldn't have chance Hula I'd have to ask my ex, he's got a week off next week so he's spending the most time with DD. I'm starting uni.

I think I might just text him the things I'm worried about and then leave it up to him to decide.

But then what if he just thinks, he'll be fine!
