Help! 10 week old won't poo..

Posting here in desperation, as I'm near the end of my tether with this and fed up of being told I'm overanxious!

Since she was 1 week old, my lo has only pooed in her nappy twice; every other time has always been lying on the changing mat, with someone holding her legs into her tummy (with her knees bent) and never more often than every other day.

She was diagnosed with an anal fissure at 3 weeks (which has now healed) and has been on lactulose ever since which keeps her poo soft. However she has now regressed again and is currently on day 4 without pooing and squirming, straightening her legs and crying in discomfort; but she won't poo!

We tried infacol, gripe water and probiotics which haven't helped, and all the usual massage, tummytime, baths. Doctors/health visitor just say it will pass- any advice before I go crazy? She is formula fed on Aptimel profutura.

Never tried it myself but i read somewhere about a warm washcloth held on the bum for a few mins, another tip i read was a cotton bud dipped in vaseline and put a tiny way into the bum to stimulate it, again i never tried it, just read about it when i was researching how to help relieve baby constipation.
Brown sugar water helped my baby, squired to the back of her throat so away from gums etc (she was on Gaviscon which can cause constipation)

See GP . Constipation needs assessing to rule out anything else and first line treatment should be Movicol not Lactulose .

Every other day is not a red flag , and quite normal for some babies as is lots of effort . Try keeping her upright after massage - gravity can help a bit !

Are her stools hard marbles ?

You could also try a change in formula ?

Have you tried the Aptamil colic and constapation milk? It might help her go a little easier.

Thank you both; I have tried the washcloth without any joy and don't really want to poke her butt after the trouble with the fissure Blush

Poos are firm but not hard, so not technically constipated - she just resists going! Lactulose was due to the thought she was resisting due to pain of the fissure, so making poo very soft would hopefully make it more comfortable to do..

Try babies magic tea. My little one had constipation and with this tea, he poops every day without any struggle.

Are you using the powdered version of the formula? We were advised to switch to the ready-made stuff for a bit when DD was constipated and although it's more expensive, it did make a difference.
