Interaction with toddler

My dd is 16 months old and over the last
couple of weeks seems to prefer to explore independently with everything: toys, outings etc.

I am worried I am not interacting with her enough. I am always in the same room etc and will sit with her ans have a cup of tea for example but worried I'm not playing enough with her.She comes to me if she wants me and I don't want to stop her having independent play but just wondering what the balance is?

Honestly just enjoy it! Talk to her while she's playing, read to her sometimes and occasionally show her a new way of using a toy to give her an idea. Otherwise leave her to it and enjoy.

Thank you Minipie. I'm just worried in case I'm ignoring her too much you know? She's my first child so I'm always worried about whether I'm doing it right.

Definitely enjoy it, my dd has gone through phases where she's been great at independent play but currently at a stage where she comes and says "come on mummy!" every 5 mins, if I ask if I can clean the kitchen first she wails Grin

Mine's like that OP, will sit on the floor and play, occasionally passes me things then of the goes again. It's good they can entertain themselves :-)
