This is my second baby but I just can't remember what I done last time!!!

Babies 8 months old and I'm going back to work in a couple of weeks so need to get him having formula. How much any when do you normally offer?? I breastfeed on demand so just don't know what to do!!

He has been having a bottle before bed for a couple of weeks so luckily I know he will take it.

He is also still waking roughly 3 times a night and I'm giving him a quick feed and he goes back to sleep - would I give a bottle then instead?!? I can't believe how clueless I feel when I've already done this once!!

Thanks for any advice

sorry don't know the answer - when I went back to work when DD was 8 months I carried on bfing - did a little bit of expressing so she had some milk during day at nursery but mainly she caught up with the missed milk in morning/evening as she never took a bottle and wasn't great at drinking large amounts of ebm milk from a cup until she went into cows milk. could you just supply ebm or formula for when you are at work and then bf when you are with him or is that not an option for you?

At 8 months mine had three 7oz bottles a day at 7am before breakfast, 2pm after lunch and 7pm before bed.

My baby is 9 months and has 5oz in morning, 4oz in afternoon, 5oz at bedtime and then a do a dream feed at 10pm but gradually reducing amount - now on 3oz. I think it depends on how much food they are eating?

Once a baby is having 3 meals a day, the recommended minimum amount of milk is 16-20oz (500-600mls). This includes milk intake in yoghurts and cheese.

The catchy phrase "food before one is just for fun" does not really have any scientific backing - it is true that the majority of nutrients will still come from milk until the baby is 12 months old but 500-600mls takes care of that.

My 8 month DD is currently having around 700-800mls of milk but I can see that every day she is getting more interested in solids and is gradually dropping her milk (which she previously loved).

My 10 month old is having 4x 6oz feeds 7am 11am 3pm 7pm (approx) also waking in the night at the moment and has another 4-6oz (growth spurt)
