I was talking to a friend today whose little boy has just started having conversations with an imaginary friend and I wondered how common this is. My eldest has three imaginary friends, called Tiptoe, Muganil and Baby Pinkle, who all go to work in the Big City every day and on holiday they followed us everywhere in a pink convertible sports car. I think i have a very imginative child!!

DS2 has hordes of imaginary children - he is their mummy, and a dragon called Blur is their daddy.

My DD has a fairy called Lucybell. She only appears about once or twice a week. She sleeps in my shoes because she likes the smells apparently

Hi - my son had an imaginary secretary!!! She was called Ng and he would tell me about how she answered his phone etc. There was someone else in his "office" too but I can't remember the other one's name. It lasted about 15 months. My son is now nearly 5. We reminded him the other day about Ng and he couldn't remember her at all.

Carmenere, My dd1 is also 3 and we get Diego (from Go Diego Go, I can only assume) going everywhere with us sometimes. She holds his reins when we go out. She also has a horse that poops when she does and we have to wipe it's bum

Also, and I find this wierd, she talks about blobs on the floor or in the air, and sometimes they follow us from room to room. [freaky]

we live with a family of imaginary crabs, the head of the family being called "Charlie". DD (4.5) has had Charlie and family for about 2 years now, he came out of nowhere! I blame it on her being an only child!

My two (6 and just 8) have joint imaginary beings, which I find particularly odd. It used to be a family of amphibious whales (Pew, the eldest; Bella, the next; there were also siblings called LittleB and Draffir, & about 10 others).

Now it is a miniature invisible FlyingWhale [pronounced with the accent on the first syllable - like Basingstoke] called (uninspiringly) Freddie. Endless excited back-&-forth about Freddie & his misdoings - it's like listening to impro.

Anyone else have that sort?

DS has an imaginary wolf. He's not really a friend though, he seems to be quite scary although sometimes they play chasing.

One of my DDs (6) has an imaginary book that she likes to take everywhere, much to the amusement of her sister.
