Hello, I'm just having a bit of a panic because 14 month old DD has never really been ill before except for a UTI when she was tiny. She's never really had a cold eveh abd never been sick before! We cosleep and I just got into bed with her, she woke briefly and seemed a bit restless and tearful then all of a sudden she started throwing up hugely all over me and the bed and the floor and half the bedroom poor thing. I've never seen so much sick come out of anybody let alone a small child. I don't know whether I should be worried or not?. Is this just something that can happen now and again and doesn't necessarily mean it's anything serious? Or should I call 111. Sorry if I'm completely overreacting its just I've never had to deal with this before and I don't want to not take action if I should, if you see what I mean. She seems okay in herself now. Doesn't feel like she's got a temperature. Any advice gratefully received thank you

It's happened two more times in the last 20 minutes. Anyone?

Call 111. How is her temperature? What has she eaten today?

Neverenoughspoons · 10/09/2017 00:30

No harm in phoning 111 to put your mind at rest. I'd just clean her up and let her sleep, also offer her small sips of water. Towels underneath her will make it easier to clean up if it happens again. Hope she's better soon.

Hi, it's probably a stomach bug, keep offering tiny sips of water and ice cubes to suck. When my DD had her first bug at the same age I was told that as long as she kept fluids in for 15 mins, she would absorb some of the liquid and keep dehydration at bay

When my nephew was around the same age (can't remember exactly but he wasn't walking yet) he did this when I was babysitting. The first episode was incredible for someone so little. He was sick 7 or 8 more times within 3-4 hours but then recovered. It was just a bug.

I think as long as you can keep your DD hydrated with tiny sips of water and as long as she doesn't become lethargic, high temp etc. she probably doesn't need medical attention at this stage. If you're unsure at any point phone 111 though.

Thank you for replying Her temperatures normal, she's eaten normal things although she did have some broccoli and cauliflower from a A couple of days ago. I steamed it then and immediately put it in a sealed plastic container in the fridge until today so I thought that would be okay. The only other thing I can think of is the milk that she was drinking today was dated to use by today. And when I just went to pour away the remnants of her last bottle about an hour ago it had curdled so I don't know whether maybe it's that? I mean she had the bottle a few hours ago and since then it had just been sitting by the sink to be washed up so it wasn't curdled when she drank it, but it was obviously close to being off

Thank you everyone I really appreciate it. She's just been sick again although there's hardly anything there now. She's ok in between though! I'm calling 111 too just to be safe

I doubt it was food related, viral tummy bugs are extremely common in toddlers/children. Hope she is better this morning
