Hi, I got ds who is otherwise healthy, but around 2 weeks ago he started or rather stoped doing poo by himself. He is ebf and I know people say babies ebf can go on for days and weeks. But little one is uncomfortable. Do I used suppositories 3 times already as advised by dr. Did anyone have this prob
Me and what was the solution? I am scared to go back to doc now as this really looks like a big problem now(( thx

You need to check with doctor or at least hv again. Most likely it's completely normal and they'll suggest something yo he'll him along. But just in case there's an underlying cause, get it checked out. It could be an intolerance to something in your diet so don't panic that there's someing wrong with him. All 4 of mine have had periods of constipation or just not going altogether.

Poos do calm down a bit after a few weeks for many babies.

Is it hard pellets of poo? Or soft but he makes a big fuss about it? How many days is he going without anything

EBF DS1 would poo once a week in the early days. It was a huge pain as he'd get more and more colicky as the week went on and his sleep would get worse and worse until he was moaning and groaning all night, then he'd do a big poo and it would all start again. It ended about 14 weeks (I was very sleep deprived by then!). I think their little bodies just need to figure out how to work and it can take some time!

Booked in for dr tomorrow, he didn't go at all by himself I had to use suppository ( as was prescribed by doc) 3 times already, first after about a week and then every 3-4 days. When poo came out it was still soft but not as soft as normal for ebf. @tronalddump so I take it you didn't use anything like laxative and it just resolved by itself? Ds become unsettled and collecy by 3rd day and looks like he is trying to do one but only wind come out.

Ds did this about 8 weeks and got colicky but went dramatically after 5 days, then went 6 days, when it just kept coming and coming (still a bit traumatised by that one) and since then, every two or three days, often needing emergency bath or at least outfit change.
Had late 6 week check last week at 10 weeks and mentioned the infreqency, Gp not perturbed at all, certainly didn't suggest a suppository. I am glad he's not going as long now as he was uncomfortable but not particularly fond of the explosions

I have had similar with both babies...for us excluding wheat from my diet helped within days. Reintroduced wheat at 3 months with no issue so it wasn't an allergy as such but just his immature gut I think. Might not be the case for you but you could try cutting them out for a few days see if you see an improvement.

Not completely gluten free btw just no pasta/bread/cake. Or beerBlush

DS used to go between 10 and 16 days between poos at that sort of age (right through until he started on solids). I lived in fear of the dam bursting while we were out and about as vast quantities of shit would go everywhere.

It was just what was normal for him. However I would keep talking to your GP and either get advice on how long between poos you can safely leave him without using suppositories or ask them for a referral to an expert.

DS went every 10 days or so when EBF. Are you sure he's uncomfortable? If so don't worry at all about going to the doctors - it's not a big issue
