Water Wipes

Hi MN this is a trivial problem apologies in advance. I have been using water wipes but the plastic seal no longer seals on the pack after a few uses. Johnsons do a box with a click type lid but I would like to use water wipes / something more 'natural'. Anyone had any luck with wipes that don't have packaging that causes them to dry out and become useless after a few days?

I religiously used water wipes when my DC was small and then one day used a friends fragrance free supermarket ones with a click top. There was literally no difference for my DC and they lasted so much longer. I don't regret using water wipes at first but honestly after a few weeks I think it's fine to switch. Hope that helps!

I found the same with water wipes, i think it's because they're a lot wetter than other wipes. I sealed the wipes as best i could, the put them upside down in a plastic Tupperware box so they didn't dry out (if that makes sense). Had to switch to aldi wipes for economical reasons, but i do really rate water wipes! You can get reusable wipes that you can use with water and a bit of essential oil, storing them in a plastic box. Cheeky wipes, i think.

Morrison sensitive wipes. Think they do newborn ones too!

You could just use water and cotton wool if you're that keen. Or keep your water wipes in a tupperware box.

I use reusable wipes which you can use with just water (I like to add a tiny amount of essential oil to the water mixture). You can literally cut up a towel, or buy cheap face cloths or buy a proper pack (Cheeky Wipes, etc). Good for baby skin, excellent at cleaning (doesn't just "move poo around", actually cleans with one wipe), cheap and good for the environment. Might be worth a look anyway if you're trying to avoid chemicals.

I just put the packet upside down after each use.

Cut up a j-cloth and take a small spray bottle of water.

I've used water wipes for over 2 years and never had this as a problem?

I prefer them to fragrance free as they have no chemicals

Duvetdaysanddays · 06/09/2017 18:35

@misstomrs thanks yep the no click top is very irritating! Just want them there ready to go. Am going to get different brand with better packaging.

@shouldnot they don't close properly - the flimsy bit of plastic on the top is completely useless.

Agree with others about putting the pack in a Tupperware box. It's all down to personal preference but I really rate water wipes. I've bought a few others in fragrance free and sensitive. Used them to remove makeup and they really dried my skin out so didn't like the thought of using them on my baby's skin. That being said, I've recently picked up Lidl baby wipes to wipe him after eating, also used these to remove makeup and my skin seems okay so far. They also come in the packet with clasp opening. I only use wipes for nappy changes occasionally, I actually use reusable wipes (BambinoMio) which are great!

I have had the same problem with lots of different wipes so always just put the pack in a ziploc bag. I really like WaterWipes and use them for all sorts of things.

I thought this about water wipes at first, then realised that even if the plastic stays open, they don't dry out. It's just that the water pools in the bottom of the packet. All you have to do is turn the packet over, squeeze gently and the top wipes get wet again! Ziplok bag is a good idea for when you take the packet out somewhere though.

I use these to remove make up (I am limited what I can use on my skin). I keep mine in a old icecream tub with a slit cut through the lid. The edges of the slit are covered with two layers of masking tap. And the rest of the box is covered by colour plastic school book over.
