Toddlers discovering the world

I thought a positive thread was in order this morning after watching DD.

She's just 17 months and this morning discovered that she has a shadow! She's been playing with it all morning, holding up different toys, waving her arms and giggling. Completely confused when she runs to me (out of the light from the window) to show me and it's 'all gone!' (demonstrated with chubby little hands raised in the air) It's completely adorable.

What have your toddlers done recently thats just melted you? 😍

Aw that's lovely OP!

The other day DS (18ms) waved and said bye to everyone in nursery without being prompted to do it, which I thought was super cute Smile

That's adorable and a lovely idea for a thread!

My 2.5yo loves animals and can name pretty much every exotic species going. Except today when she pointed to a penguin in her book and announced it was a "pengaroo".

I'm also trying to get her into the habit of greeting and saying goodbye. Yesterday when leaving the park she stopped, turned back, waved and shouted "Bye bye slide, bye bye swing, bye bye sand, bye bye park"!

She's also taken on the task of explaining the world to her 8mo sister, including telling her off for eating things she shouldn't.

Dd (16 months) has been hiding in the wardrobe by sliding the doors across and just figured out she can go in one side and come out the other. She was very impressed with herself. She also started saying paw to the dog 😃

My eldest had an obsession with belly buttons for a long time (mine, my DH). When he realised he had one too he was so excited!

They are so lovely at this age aren't they! The quiet before the storm of the terrible twos I suspect Grin

Lovely thread!

DS2 is 22 months and I'd forgotten how lovely this age is (DS1 is nearly 6).

He is also obsessed with shadows, and stars. Every time we pass a Premier Inn he is so excited.

We have a friend whose daughter shares a name with my parents' dog. He has just clocked the coincidence and is so. bloody. excited about it. Gorgeous stuff.

My ds is 23 months, and in the last six weeks or so has suddenly started talking like a little tiny professor. He can say probably 300 words, and they've just come from nowhere. This morning he bumped into me, and said 'sorry mummy', I said 'that's ok it didn't hurt'- to which he replied, 'you're welcome sanks (thanks) and I see (you) again soon' (which is exactly what the man in the post office says after we've paid!)

He also keeps coming to us and saying 'you a good boy' and 'you a tired boy' which is just so adorable.

Third and last baby so I just want to bottle him up and keep him forever like this- and typically he's growing up faster than the others, so independent.

Yesterday 10mo DS tried to share his dummy with his own reflection in the mirror! Grin

My ds5 (asd and speech delay) melted my heart yesterday. Dh came in from work and yawned as he was taking his shoes off. Ds walked over stroked his back and said "ahhh daddy had a busy day, daddy work hard at work, love you" and walked off. It's the longest sentence he's ever said that we could make complete sense of!

Help! My partners sister in law bought us a baby bouncer/swing and I physically hate it. She orginally said I could pick it but just bought one £30 more expensive one and completely what I didn't want. This one swings on its own when I wanted one that rocked. Due to me asking for them key aspects she's said it's now only for when it's at my partners parents house. I'm only 17 and I don't know what to do, his family don't take my views into consideration at all! Please help!

My toddler thinks it's hilarious when I close my eyes. He touches my eyelids and laughs.

letmepeeinpeace · 04/09/2017 16:29

I caught my 2 yr old son looking longingly at the moon! I stood by the door for a while just watching him, when he finally realised I was there he said "moon mama moon" and beckoned me to watch it with him!

SleepingStandingUp · 04/09/2017 16:32

Atlantis2000 you needto start a separate thread x

Waitingonasmile · 04/09/2017 16:39

DS (2) is also obsessed with shadows. Will chase and pounce on mine and his. Sometimes he** decides he's scared of it and wants lifted away from it.Confused

lornathewizzard · 04/09/2017 17:34

Dd3 was running with her shadow the other day (and promptly fell over oops).

DS1 does this adorable face / nose scrunch thing when he's eating and catches my eye because I do it to him.
