Any tips please for making settling into new house a bit less stressful!

Posted this in chat but thought this might actually be a better place.

Just moved house a couple of days ago. DC's were at childcare the day of and day after the move but are now at home with me. DH is back at work.

I have taken a week off work to try &
get settled and sorted before dc's are back at school but it's proving difficult as they don't get on very well and spend the entire time bickering!

I know it's unsettling for them moving house (though same schools) so i've tried to spend some time taking them out to places and some time in the house trying to get sorted.

When we're in the house they're either fighting with each other, telling tales, wanting something or not doing as i ask. I can hardly get a thing done and now it's the evening and I'm knackered with so much still to do.

Just after any tips please from people who've done this as I don't know how to make much progress and keep everyone happy! Thanks

Give up on sorting the house this week and enjoy your holiday with them. No way can you make them happy while sorting out a house move. Unless TV?

I reckon ride it out best you can and then when school routine kicks in, everything will feel more normal. The behaviour you describe sounds like end of holiday syndrome as much as new house making them feel unsettled.

How about you get them involved in decorating? Any paper need stripping? My ds loves pulling strips off wall. Or start planning new stuff for their bedrooms? A shopping trip to b&q and let them 'help' with paint testers?
