Ideas please!!! I have no idea where to start thinking of getting my 3.5 yr old a tablet for learning. She watches videos on my phone sometimes but she is a very active girl so I'm trying to think of ways to encourage her to learn more in preparation for school next year Confused reluctant to buy one as I don't want her to overuse it but a knowledge that they're part of learning too.

Any if you use the amazon/leapfrog?? There's kids more but I'm sooo confused!!
Thanks!

We have the Kindle Fire kid's edition. It was very reasonably priced, comes with a year's free subscription (£5/yr after that think), and most importantly 2yrs no quibble guarantee great for when DH sits on it. You can set it to only work within certain hours and for a maximum number of hours per day. DD1 was able to use it easily at 2yo, so it's not hard to pick up.
My only gripe was the outer protective case came in a choice of only two colours. I bet you can't guess what they are...?

Our daughter has a Samsung tablet set to kids mode. Again you can restrict hours of usage and control what apps they have access too. I prefer this as there's a wide range of apps available to download. She particularly likes the CBeebies app and it's educational and was a stepping stone to her using other apps.

We looked at alternatives and liked the leappad but it's restricted to it's own software and add-ons. A generic tablet, with proper parental controls, suited us better and we can use it if we wish in adult mode.

I have just yesterday bought a kindle fire for £40 for me and DD. Not the kids one because it's twice the price. You can set up a kids profile so they can't access the ads or in app purchases etc, and parental controls etc. And you can subscribe to their kids content if you want but we've not tried that yet.
It's not super fast or anything but for £40 I don't think you can really go wrong

We also have the regular Kindle Fire. No complaints. It does what it's supposed to and we've been happy with it. I would just make sure you have boundaries in place because they want to use it all the time and if you are someone, like me, who wants to limit screen time, it's important to decide how you'll do that before you go down that road. It's been really helpful for travel though and for when we are working (we run a family business so sometimes need to bring her along to all day events on the weekends and she gets bored after awhile, so it's a good distraction when we are really busy with clients).
