Acceptable to give 2 year old double bed?

Currently live in 3 bed house but extending to 4 bed in 18 months. At present we have mine and dh room with double in, spare room has double in for the rare occasion friends stay; and toddler has cot bed in her room which we only took 1 side off so havent fully converted to bed. In about 6 weeks we will have a newborn too and we are thinking rebuild the cot in the spare room (or babys room as it should now be known!) and buy dd a single bed. This would mean getting rid of the double and spending money on a single as we havent the room to store it. Also we would want a double for the 4th room when we do extend so seems pointless to get rid. I suddenly thought last night could we give the 2 year old a double? What are peoples thoughts on this?

Good idea! My ds had a double bed at 3. They're less likely to fall out.

My 2 yr old is in a double. What the worry or inappropriateness? That she might start bringing strange toddlers home? 😂

Mine had a double and now has a single with another pull out bed and sleeps best when they are both up and it's like a king size. It's much easier to lie with him and means if I fall asleep on his bed I get decent sleep too

When they are upset, unwell you can sleep beside them. Nurse baby beside them.

No problem with giving her a double. You will never get her out of it though so don't expect to take it back once you've done the extension.

My 2 year old has had a small double since he was about 1. It's great he doesn't fall out and we can give him any cuddles he needs in the night easily with plenty of room for us to go to sleep too

People do laugh when they find out but why anyone cares what size mattress he's on is beyond me.

My DD went into a double bed for a few months after her cot. I got foam things to stick under the sheet so she wouldn't fall out.

DS 2.5 has a double bed, simply because we were given it for free. He's the envy of all his friends

We've got him a single duvet as I did worry about him getting tangled up in a double, plus it's easier to find child-friendly bedding for a single. IKEA do nice brightly coloured bottom sheets in double.

My kids have doubles. No real reason except I figured they'd prefer it because most nights they're cuddled up in each other's beds. DS(5), DD(7) and DD(10) are often found all sleeping together. I don't know why I bother with own bedrooms.

Mine had a double until almost 3 when he got a single so he had more room to play and we stopped cosleeping, Thought he might have fallen out or been unsettled but he's been totally fine.
