Hi ds needs to be able to dress/ undress for starting school shortly

He can undress bottoms ok but struggles with tshirts and jumpers. What's the best way to teach him? I've tried showing him how I do it but it's not been very successful!

Thanks

Is dressing or undressing the issue?

Mine (DDs 2 and 4) pull their arms out of the sleeves inside their shirt then up over the head.

To put them on, they look for the tag at the back, crumple the back hem up towards the tag then over head, then arms though sleeves

It's undressing tops that seems to be the problem!

Thanks

As heymickey says. My ds school taught them to grab the elbow of the jumper then pull their arm out of the sleeve. Once one arm is out they can either pull out the other arm the same way or pull the jumper over the head. It is much easier. My ds now do the grap the back of the neck hole and keep pulling! That works too but the arm thing is easier to teach.

I tell DD to push her elbow through the sleeve and pull, demoing.

She's lazy though and won't get herself dressed.

We played a going to school game the summer before dd1 went to school. It included getting dress in school uniform and getting changed for pe, we built up to getting dressed from a pile of inside out clothing.

It meant we could practice things like going on the bus (our sofa was the bus) and putting your hand up.

I didn't bother trying to teach my DS how to take a top off I just told them to take it off and they found their own way. There is no right way as long as it gets done.
