Formula question, thick at maths! Help!

Hi
So as title suggests I am really not very good at maths and would like to work out the difference between powder and ready made formula. If it's not that much dearer then I shall use the ready made as it saves a lot of faff and my prep machine recently broke.
So basically I would like to know how many bottles of 5oz I would get out of a 900g tub of formula? I know it is 1 scoop of powder to each oz but my thick brain just can't work it out!
Also am I right in thinking I would get roughly 5 bottles of 6oz out of a 1L ready made?
Thank you!

I dunno am crap at maths. Wouldn't you need to know how much a scoop of formula weighs (or a number of scoops depending on what type of scales you have) to work this out?

dementedpixie · 23/08/2017 16:15

The tub should tell you how many scoops are in it so you should be able to work out how much powder is in one bottle

Based on cost alone (I too am thick), a box of our formula costs £8.50 and lasts about a week, based on 5 feeds a day. The same spent on instant cartons (which we do use sometimes as very lazy!) would be about £25 so a huge difference!! If that helps...!

Changedjustforthisonly · 23/08/2017 16:18

What brand are you using? I have just googled some images of formula tbus and most tell you how much a losely packed scoop is (around 8.5g depending on brand).

Changedjustforthisonly · 23/08/2017 16:18

*loosely

FuzzyOwl · 23/08/2017 16:18

35oz = 1 litre. So seven 5oz bottles is one 1l bottle.

Cow and Gate is about £9 for a tub and £3.30 for a 1l bottle. It is roughly one bottle per day and one tub in about a week. So £23.10 vs £9 per week.

Thank you everyone! I didn't realise it would be that much more expensive! Stick to the powder it is GrinGrin

according to this image image.babyonline.com.hk/cache/data/product/cow-gate/cow-gate-5000378998195-6-1024x1024.jpg a C&G scoop of first milk is 4.5g so 900/4.5 = 200 scoops 200/5 = 40 bottles?

Changedjustforthisonly · 23/08/2017 16:21

x post

Changedjustforthisonly · 23/08/2017 16:22

or just ignore my maths if it's wrong Grin

dementedpixie · 23/08/2017 16:44

So 200 scoops in a tub so 40×5 oz feeds

Cutesbabasmummy · 24/08/2017 12:22

You have to use the ready made formula up in 1 day I think so basically you waste a lot compared to making up formula. We just used the small ready made ones at night to save faffing with it at first x

FuzzyOwl · 24/08/2017 17:30

The 1l bottles of formula last for 48 hours in the fridge (or that is what they say on the back of them). For whatever reason the 200ml ones only last for 24 hours.
