Help with my pouch sling - is it too big?

Ordered a pouch sling which I received today but it feels all wrong. I tried the cuddle hold with dd but I feel like the sling's going to slip off my shoulder and the top of my arm seems to be taking the bulk of dd's weight. The movement of my arm is quite restricted as well.

I've looked up a few websites with instructions and dd looks quite low compared to these photos. I also tried to put her in the tummy to tummy position but it went horribley wrong, far, far too much loose material around her head/back so there was no real support, she's only 5 weeks old so still needs head support.

So, do you think it's too big or am I doing something wrong?

TIA.

Is it a coorie? The sizing is off with them IME. I've got a large and it is definitely too big.

No, I bought it from 'Freedom Slings' an Ebay shop. I think i can take it in quite easily but wanted to make sure it was the size and not me being a numpty before I get the sewing machine out.

I bought a babasling and it never fitted me properly despite claiming one size fitted all. I am average size and height. It didn't support my ds2, I couldn't adjust it enough to get my son closer to my body. So it could be that you need to alter it.

I know that you bought yours from ebay but I hired my latest two from www.bigmamaslings.co.uk for £10 each for 2 weeks rental (although you have to return them special delivery so another £5 on top) it was so I could make a decision before buying.

Something to bear in mind if you ever want another sling.

I did see the BigMommas site but the sling I bought was only £15 anyway so thought I wouldn't be losing out by buying it.

Thanks anyway, looks like I'll be dusting off the sewing machine this afternoon!

I make my own slings and I use the diagonal shoulder to opposite hip measurement and the sling should measure the same length wise from bottom of curve to the bit that goes on your shoulder when it is folded ready to put on iyswim!

When your baby is in it, I think the bottom of the sling should be at the top of your hip.

Thanks all! Dh tried it on and, luckily, it seems to fit him perfectly, definitely too big for me even though I did all my measurements correctly. We're keeping this one for dh and buying another one for me (and a cute tiny one for dd to carry her toys in)
