Two naps to one

Hi

For the last 4 weeks my LO has been taking anything from 45min to 1 hour to sleep when put down at 7. She naps from 10-11 and 3-4. So I have been thinking it's time to transition to one nap so she goes down better at 7. I have been pushing the morning nap by 15 mins everyday but now we are at 1045. But she still gets tired in the afternoon and I'm wondering how to make sure her one nap is a good two hour nap so hay she doesn't need another one. And is this the best way to transition to one nap from two?

Any advice is very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

How old is she? My DS is almost 18 months and we have just about completed the 2 to 1 transition. I did as you are, pushed the morning nap as late as I could each day. We had quite a few days where bedtime was brought forward to 6.30 or even 6.15 because he just couldn't make it any later but it's evened out now. On days where he has been up really early he sometimes gets a 15 or 20 minute catnap in the car in the morning still and then will nap after lunch 12.30 or 1 until 2.30 or 3. If no morning catnap then it's usually 11/12 until 1/2ish and he has to have either a very early or late lunch!

DS moved from 2-1 at about 14mo and DD was just over a year. Same issue as you with fighting sleep at bedtime. I just kept them busy at toddler groups/park etc all morning until about 11/11.30. First couple of days with DS he only napped for his usual hour and was exhausted come bedtime but he gradually increased it to 2-2.30hrs. DD lengthened the nap from day 1. Both had the late morning nap rather than post lunch nap for a long time. Don't overthink it. Just give it a go and see what happens. They will let you know if not quite ready yet.

Thanks my LO is 14.5 months now. She is doing same taking 45min-1hour to sleep. Do you think she is definitely in need of one nap?
