When did you stop doing night time nappy changed?

DD2 is 8 weeks and I change her nappy at about 10 before bed and not again until the morning (unless it's soloed, of course). I've been doing this since about week 2, it's always very full in the morning but had never leaked.

IIRC I used to change DD1s nappy a couple times during the night for the first few months but I can't remember why?!

When did you let them go all night with the same nappy?

Only changed if dirty rather than wet.

Orangebird69 · 12/08/2017 21:17

I've only ever changed ds's nappy at night if it was soiled. Never for just wet.

My DD used to have lots of milk over night so I changed her every other feed

I only ever change the nappy at night if it's dirty, so stopped very early on. Maybe you did it with dd1 so she'd be more awake for a feed?

MynameisJune · 12/08/2017 21:18

Never changed over night unless it was soiled.

QuiteLikely5 · 12/08/2017 21:20

Agree with others only do if there's a poop otherwise it wakes them too much! Not always but can do. I think it's unnecessary

ineedamoreadultieradult · 12/08/2017 21:20

I'm with PP's only changed at night if pooed in and mine didn't seem to poo whilst asleep, in the bath yes but asleep not so much.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 12/08/2017 21:23

I can't remember with DS1 but I still change DS2 at 10w because he seems to drench his nappy in 4 hours. DS1 was in cloth at this age so probably more absorbent... why didn't I write this down?!

mistermagpie · 12/08/2017 21:24

DS is 4.5 months. He gets a nappy change with his feed at about 10pm and then again when he has his feed at about 3am. I could probably skip the 3am change but he has sensitive skin and gets a bit 'rashy' if left too long.

DS1 is just 2 and gets a nappy on before bed at 7pm which stays on until the morning (about 7am). This has been the situation since he was about 6 months but he was sleeping through by then. DS2 will probably never sleep through... Sad

Batoutahell · 12/08/2017 21:26

I only changed wet nappies at night on my first.

Learned pretty quick on next babies never to change unless soiled or leaking.

SleepForTheWeek · 12/08/2017 21:26

Ah good - was thinking I was just lazy!

I think it was just one of those 'things you do' as a FTM

I use cloth nappies during the day but disposables at night to avoid a nappy change although I may just use extra boosters and see how she gets on

I only changed at night when I used cloth or it would give them a rash being next to the skin. I didn't change disposable unless soiled or had fed and was very wet.

ThursdayLastWeek · 12/08/2017 21:35

I stopped quite early because DS stopped pooping in the night relatively early.

I sometimes knew that I'd regret not changing it, because I'd be woken up later by a sad baby in wet vest, baby gro, blanket and sheet where the nappy had leaked Sad. But sleep is precious.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 12/08/2017 21:44

OP I've only had boys so no idea how girls wet, but I used terry towels folded with lots of bulk at the front, and folded a bamboo booster in half and put that at the front too. DS1 never leaked overnight and would wear that for twelve hours.

MotherofA · 12/08/2017 21:45

My DD is 5 months and I was changing at every feed if it was wet or dirty . Then she slept through for a couple of months so I didn't change it .
Since she started having food she has soiled in the night and been waking for feeds so I started changing her again .

abigailgabble · 12/08/2017 22:50

i probably stopped at about 7/8 weeks too. tbh i am an idiot and just carried on torturing myself changing it even when it was only wee way longer than necessary as i didn't realise that was ok Blush

Doje · 12/08/2017 22:54

I changed my two when they woke for a feed in the night. I've been a lucky bugger though and they both slept through from about 12 weeks, so stopped then.

Xmasbaby11 · 12/08/2017 22:58

Pretty early. Mine never had dirty nappies in the night after the first couple of weeks. So I maybe changed the nappy once in the night for the first 2 or 3 months. I never found mine needed very frequent nappy changes and no nappy rash ever.

elephantconga · 12/08/2017 23:08

I was told to change at every feed. So I always did, so night changes stopped when night feeds stopped.

Spam88 · 13/08/2017 00:04

Normally every other feed unless she does a poo. Have thought it'd be okay to skip a change a couple of times and woken up to a soggy baby :(

mimiholls · 13/08/2017 07:37

Only change if dirty so that stopped at about 4 weeks. When you stop doing night feeds nappy won't get very wet at night either.
