Terry squares??

Hi. After a lot of thought I am going to get some terry squares but cant decide what sort to get. At the moment I am using muslin folded with a booster and it's great. What size should I get for a 7 month old and what material? Heard there is hemp, terry or bamboo? Also are they very bulky, compared to a tots bot or modern baby nappy? Thanks

I'm very happy with Little Ewe 60cm unbleached cotton squares, bought from Kittykins with home-made fleece liners - lovely and thick and absorbent but I haven't tried any others. It is bulky, but OK as DS is skinny so most things fit. Not so good before 6mo as DS just too small relative to nappy.

I second the Little Ewe terries, bought some for stock thinking "oh they are just terry squares" but they are the best ones I have ever seen and so gorgeously soft!

Bamboo ones from nappy nation are very nice and silky soft, but then the only ones I have to compare them to are som every old trries from when I was a baby! Much slimmer than tots fluffles but that's not hard!

go to www.babeco.co.uk and you can buy the fabric (I have hemp fleec which I use in weenees pouches) very cheaply (£7 a metre I think) and cut it to the size you need. It dosn't need hemming, just wash it before cutting as it shrinks a little.

The bamboo terries at Babeco are nice too, they fold up alot slimmer than Little Ewes (which I love, esp. the pastel ones), you can roll one up and put it in your pocket easily

I have some babeco bamboo terrys but mine have warped into very odd shapes and I can only use them as boosters now. Do the nappy nation ones wash better?

Also I have some elliepants terries which are very fluffy and wash really well. They are all still perfect squares which is handy as I am pretty rubbish at folding!

I have toddler terrys which are 78cm but I think most people have the 60cm which last for most of your nappy wearing life as long as your lo is not huge like my DS!

I find they are pretty bulky compared to my wambamboos (but then they are really slim) but they dry really quick esp when you compare the bamboo terrys to the shaped ones. I use motherease airflow wraps over them as they are nice an roomy.

The NN ones are different, they are a slightly thicker terry and do keep their shape, the Babeco ones have changed since I got my first one, they now have rounded corners and don't seem to warp quite as much. The thing I really like with the bamboo is that they have some polyester stretch in them so they fit my son when the Little Ewe ones have gotten too small

I found Little Ewe terries to be just the job

Wallace · 30/03/2007 22:12

I bought some little ewe terries second hand from a mumsnetter. They are great.

Nikki81 - I have some Little Ewe terries (maybe 10?) in as new condition, I would like to sell if you would be interested
