Breastfeeding

Hi everyone,

I am breastfeeding my 10 day old newborn, she has a formula before bed as she seems extra hungry at bedtime and helps her sleep and settle better, all other feeds are from me... I have noticed one breast seems to leak an awful lot more than the other, to the point where the right will soak through a breast pad and bra and the other doesn't leak at all... she seems to prefer the one which leaks more and settles better I constantly try her on the other first and she does feed from it but always wants more from the other.

I have ordered an expresser to see if this helps but is this normal? And does anyone have any tips to help her get more from the breast which doesn't seem to leak? Wondering if it just doesn't produce as much?

Thanks

It could just be speed of let down. It is normal for babies to have a preferred side.

There absolutely nothing to worry about and all sounds completely normal. If she fusses more at one breast, have you tried a different hold?

Totally normal, I had the same with all my dc feeding. They all preferred the same boob, that boob leaked more and was much bigger in size. I would just try to fed with the other boob during the day when baby wasn't so tired. Still keep offering the other boob, maybe baby just prefers being round a certain way to fed.
Watching with interested for when my next is born x

I'd give them the less preferred one first when really hungry. It helps to prevent blockages as they will clear it quickly.
