Kids fighting constantly

Anyone have any suggestions about how to handle my 18 month old and 4 year old? It's reaching a point where we can't have them in the same room any more due to the constant fighting. They just sit there screaming at each other. They each wind up the other on purpose. It goes on all day. I can't even be in the house with them for more than 10 minutes. About to leave the younger one with my husband and take the older one out as my head feels like it's going to split.

Divide and conquer. If you can go out with one and husband has the other. Give them space from eachother - and give yourself a break. Hopefully when they do get back together it will be calmer.

I hear ya! My 6yo and 4yo have been bickering since they broke up from school, I was glad to go to work for a break

No suggestions I'm afraid, I let my two get on with it unless it gets violent.

I've found keeping them busy helps massively

They are now separated and peace reigns again. Thought things might get easier as the little one grew older, guess not!

How are they when they're out? Do they have periods when they get in?

When they get on

They're fine when they're out, the older one tells other kids 'that's my baby brother'. We spend hardly any time in the house now, but I suppose that's not a bad thing.

I think an 18 month old can easily annoy a 4 yr old by just interfering in their playing and being quite disruptive.
I took mine out a lot and always gave them their own stuff when doing activities. Sharing didn't work!
For example, they had their own play doh sets, own paint palettes, own bowls and wooden spoons for baking.
Get them out in the garden as much as possible too, if you have one.
Always stay calm when they fight and acknowledge how they feel but keep setting standards as well.
'I understand you got angry because dc2 took your toy. Dc2 shouldn't have done that but we don't fight'

Are they both boysOP? Sounds like you're describing my life! I have 2 boys, 4.6yo and 23mo and they are driving me barmy at the moment. Constantly rowing over toys/stupid bits of plastic shit, regularly coming to blows, pushing shoving hitting etc.

WE go out the house twice every day, morning and afternoon (home for lunch and the toddlers nap in the middle) cos I cannot bear being in a small confined space with them.

They're not much better in the garden but play much better in the park/soft play or whatever.

Yup, they're both boys. My mum says that brother and sister works better in terms of fighting. Just been out all morning but toddler won't nap so will probably be out again in a bit. They are very draining aren't they.
