Leaky nappies (tired of being weed on)

What am I doing wrong?
Why do I keep getting wet?

He's 3 weeks, 9lbs, and so we have him in tiny newborn size.
I've tried Lidl, Sainsburys, Boots and I've tried a sample pack of Pampers but can't remember whether they leaked.

Am I putting them on backwards? I thought nappies were meant to keep the bad stuff in?

Size up, ensure frills are pulled out, penis pointing down: if you've done all of this and still getting leaks, you may want to investigate cloth nappies, or at least the waterproof wraps which go over them.

Check the tightness of the waist, and maybe change more regularly?

You might need to go up a size.

Pampers were the only brand that kept my son dry overnight!

Ok I had this problem with my first baby...
-Get pampers babydry in the biggest size that fits (e.g. If size 1 is 9-14lb then get that size). Bigger size= more absorbent.

  • POINT WILLY DOWN
  • and make sure the fringes and all out (not tucked in)

Thank should work!

TeddyIsaHe · 28/07/2017 08:38

Up a size, dd was in size 2 at 9lbs. Make sure they're done up quite snugly, frills out, willy down and changed often so they don't get waterlogged.

steppemum · 28/07/2017 08:41

mine were 10 pounders and I never used tiny newborn.

You can pull them quite firmly round the waist so they fit snuggly.

dementedpixie · 28/07/2017 08:41

The sizes overlap so try the biggest nappy in his weight range e.g have you tried size 2? Point penis down. Make sure edges are untucked

sunshineandrainbowsparkles · 28/07/2017 08:42

Try size 2, newborn are I think for around 5-8lb so it's likely he needs a bigger size

TheWeatherGirl1 · 28/07/2017 08:49

Ok. Thanks all.

I've got a million of the small ones so I'm going to be doing them up tighter and checking the frills before I size up

Bigger size and experiment to see what works.
I was putting them on backwards personally Blush

If you have unopened packs of nappies, supermarkets will generally allow you to exchange for another size.

Dreams16 · 28/07/2017 13:44

Try pampers baby dry I currently use them on my DS the only ones that worked for us
We occasionally do get a leak but I think that's down to me sometimes not fitting them properly or if DS is wiggling about too much but it happens once in a blue moon compared to others we used when he would be soaking at night because they had leaked

My 9lb was only in new born for a couple of weeks and then had to move up a size.

TIALEIGHANNE31 · 28/07/2017 16:02

You definitely need to size up! That's why newborn nappies come in such small packs as they are not in them long!!
