Baby has discomfort from wind - HELP

Hello!
So LO is 2 weeks old and is really struggling to bring up any wind after her bottles, we've tried a great amount of positions to see if that would help and they really haven't. I've done some research and found a remedy called "Infacol" that helps babies with colic and wind. Is this only for babies with colic or can it be used for babies who do struggle with their wind? I wouldn't want to give LO anything that she shouldn't be having but I also want to help her as I can really see that it's hurting her. Whilst feeding her I can hear all her wind in her tummy and when we stop feeding to see if we can elevate some of her wind it doesn't work. LO is currently on a feeding plan of a 3ounce bottle every 2 and a half hours due to not putting enough weight on after birth, if when it comes to her feeding time and she doesn't accept the bottle then we just keep trying when she shows signs of hunger so it's not like we're over feeding her either :/

Hiya I used gripe water as I think you have to use infacol 20 mins before every feed and I am only now good at knowing when dd is going to be hungry. Infacol does help though if it's trapped wind.

My ds is 11 days old and we've got the same issue. The midwife came yesterday and suggested using the anti colic bottles rather than introducing infacol etc. We had the antil colic bottles with my DD and they did work and just mean they aren't taking in as much air when feeding

Infacol instructions don't say anything of the sort redken

We have similar issue but bf so anticolic bottles not an option, now 4.5 weeks.

Infacol does seem to help, slightly, as does taking him off to burp if i can hear air etc

Colief is the best thing I found. It's expensive over the counter but we asked our gp to put it on prescription.

SmallBee · 26/07/2017 07:26

Infacol can be great for wind and used right before a feed or halfway through if you forget.
There is also colief which you add to the bottle half an hour before feeding.
And anti colic bottles are also great.
Have a look at silent reflux as well to check it isn't that, very hard to diagnose but very treatable with gavisgon if that's what it is.

I found it impossible to remember to give infacol before a feed (as I fed on demand and couldn't keep track)

Baby hated gripe water.

Coleif is supposed to work wonders (very very expensive though)

Have you tried stopping every couple of mins to burp?

Redken24 · 26/07/2017 21:37

arbrighton - when I used it the advice I was given was to give drops then wait. Different strokes.
Op I also used YouTube for different winding techniques as I wasn't very good at "hearing" when dd needed burped.

You can't use gripe water on a baby younger than 1 month.

Infacol is good and doesn't have to be given 20 mins before, you just squeeze it in their mouths before the bottle.

Try the mam anti colic bottles, and the infacol. Don't give the whole bottle then try and wind them - stop half way for winding then start again, and also wind after.

arbrighton · 30/07/2017 18:55

I think infacol works as long as you give it for most feeds (or every x time if cluster feeding)

and while 'advice' might be give it 20 minutes before, not what the instructions say and I'm damned if I can predict with a 5 week old that he'll need feeding in 20 minutes, nor am I going to wake him in anticipation

Plus, it's a 'cumulative' thing- it doesn't work if you only give it when wind is an issue. You have to do it consistently
