Teething powders! You just shake them (or put on a spoon) in rather than having to guess what bit hurts. They must taste OK as both my dc liked them.

The gel is crap, it just slides off. Liquid anbesol is great. Which reminds me, I really need to buy more!

I second teething powder. I use the Parsons one which is fab!

Where do I get the powder ? And how long does it stay numb

the powder stuff is generally herbal and not proven to work. the liquid anbesol has lidocaine in it ie. a proven painkilling ingredient. anyone saying the powder works is like the people who believe that an amber necklace works. idiots.

Yy to liquid an anbesol. You buy it from behind the counter in the chemist.

We smear the gel on a teething toy or dummy for our dd, but we need something more effective now teething is really starting to kick off (dd only just has her two bottom ones through at 10 months) but our method might be worth a try in the interim?

Another recommendation for liquid anbesol, so so so much easier than gel and much more effective. And the teething granules are helpful for a temporary fix/distraction when you first give calpol or iboprofen and are waiting for it to kick in.

We used to use s baby's rubber toothbrush and put the gel on that. Then dd chews on the brush and the gel goes where she needs it - 2 relief in 1 :)
