Toys for 12 week olds

I was wondering what sort of toys/play equipment other people have or have had for their 3 month babies to use? I have a playmat, various books, sockpuppets and ankle/wrist rattles but nothing that is electronic. I don't want my dd to become bored with toys we have as she'll soon be able to properly grab and become more active in her play I'm sure 🤔😊!

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated! (why is everything so expensive!) 😅

You don't really need much at that age but a few suggestions-

  • make shakers/sensory bottles from plastic bottles (secure with tape) with different things in eg oil, water, glitter and food colouring, bottle tops, dried pasta, corks etc
  • go to a toy library and try some out
  • If you want to splash out the Lamaze toys are good
  • anything noisy with bright lights is usually a hit
  • a ball

At three months DD loved sensory play (she still does!). Popular things were homemade mini sensory bottles, filled with things such as - coloured water with glitter and sequins, rice, popcorn kernels, coloured water and baby oil etc. She also loved scrunching a foil blanket - you can buy them from amazon very cheaply! Babies love contrast at that age, so black and white picture cards are nice. Dd also enjoyed looking at her reflection in the mirror, and exploring different things during tummy time (ducks in water, items of different textures etc). For toys her favourites included small wooden instruments, texture/lift the flap books, ribbons which I tied onto wooden hoops, and a caterpillar and apple teething toy which played simple music (can't remember the brand!).

Oh I think the teething tou was v tec - she loved it! Don't worry too much though, as you are the most interesting thing to her; just spending time with you will entertain her.

Ah thankyou guys! I figured that the more simplistic the better but knowing what other parents are using eases my mind that I'm not being a boring sod! 😅 I think I'll invest in a ball and brushing up on my creativity skills!

I also like anything by galt and ikea have lots of great toys.

Check out second hand toys in facebook.

My 14 month old DD loves her elc wonder blocks but I think even a young baby wouldn't be interested in the pictures and patterns on them.

You don't need anything electronic, there is a school of thought that single use toys are not great for children's development.

Mine has just started grabbing things and really likes fabric/cloth things. He can entertain himself for ages with his bib! We bought some cloth books and he has a grow and play ted the monkey which I think comes from Sainsbury's (we got it as a gift but that's what the tag says) which he absolutely adores! We also bought an o-ball which is great as it has holes in it that he can hold on to.
