Screaming for fun

Dd is 13 months, and has recently taking up practising screaming for fun. She isn't upset, angry or frustrated when she does it, but it seems to make her happy.

Dh works shifts so is often sleeping during the day, and dd keeps waking him up. I take her out, but she still screams. She screamed the entire way round the shop earlier, and everyone just stared.

I try distracting her, but it often doesn't work. We are always busy doing activities, but the moment dd has some free play-time/sitting in her stroller she just wants to scream. I have tried firmly telling her no, but she just finds it funny. I've tried ignoring her, but that doesn't usually stop her either.

Is this normal? I love dd but it's so annoying and giving me a headache.

Does she talk yet? Sounds like she is finding her voice :) it may be annoying but in all honesty if it leads into properly talking I would let her crack on, maybe teach her not to scream so loud when daddy is in bed?

My ds started doing that around the same age. He's now 20 months and whilst he does seem to still find splitting my ears fun, the novelty seems to have worn off! Now does it much less (unless egged on by 6 yr old dd...!) I reckon its a phase. I just sort of smile and say no thank you and he eventually got the message but yes bit embarrassing in a restaurant etc!
