Do you count your baby's age in weeks or months?

Mine was born on the 11th Feb
So 11th of each month she's a month more obviously...

but in weeks, if there's 4 weeks in a month - she's older than this.

I used to do months up to a year then mix it up sometimes I would say she is 14 months or she is 1 up to 2yrs months is fine . I once saw on here my dc is 37 months sooo 3 then Grin

MrsJayy · 21/07/2017 22:57

Dont do weeks that is a bit silly 47 weeks no dont do that

dementedpixie · 21/07/2017 22:58

There's only 1 month where there are 4 weeks so you can't count 4 weeks as 1 month.

It seems to be that weeks are the norm up to about 3 or 4 months. Then you count in months up to about 18 months or two years. And then it goes to something like "just turned 3" or "almost 4 and a half".
From 5 years, nobody seems to care about halves and quarters anymore Smile

DryIce · 21/07/2017 23:00

If a month were 4 weeks we'd have 13 months a year

BikeRunSki · 21/07/2017 23:02

There's more than 4 weeks in a month though. A month isn't a consistent, regular period of time either, do not a great unit for accurately measuring the passage of time.

MrsJayy · 21/07/2017 23:02

Yeah I stopped doing weeks after 20 weeks

BikeRunSki · 21/07/2017 23:39

I think weeks is pretty normal up to about 6 months, maybe 4-5. Then months up to 18 months. Then just agevin years.

Smellbellina · 21/07/2017 23:43

I cringe whenever anyone asks me, as I have no idea. He's been 18 months for a while now.
Sometimes I just tell them the month in which he is 2 instead, they can do their own math.
If anyone asks me his DOB I am stumped. The DR's receptionist was very snooty when I offered her a choice of 2 dates.

BackforGood · 21/07/2017 23:48

Up to about 3 months I would have replied in weeks
Up to about 18months I'd have said in months
Up to about 3 I'd say "2 and a half" or "Just 2"

Up to about 21 - their age in years
After that, I doubt I'm going to remember, so go with a general "In their 20s/30s/40s" etc Wink

I counted weeks u up until dd was three months old, then moved onto saying her she in so many months. It always confuses me when people say "she's 37 weeks", as I then have to figure out how old it is in months. Dd is now 13 months, but I tend to just say one unless her exact age matters for context.

DoubleHelix79 · 22/07/2017 14:04

I'm considering giving DD's age in fortnights, just to make it more fun. Grin

kingfishergreen · 22/07/2017 15:53

I used weeks until 16 weeks, then deferred to months because I lost count.

PeppaPigObsession · 22/07/2017 17:24

I did weeks until 6 months, then months until 18 months, then it was nearly 2. And now at 2 I just say she's 2, if they ask for more details then I'll say she was 2 in June.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 22/07/2017 17:28

I do weeks until 16 weeks ish then switch to months. Once they're 1 I switch to years unless months are needed (at a gp appointment for example).
