Nope. Babies often don't know the difference between night and day til around 6 weeks. It's a gradual thing.
Sorry!

As the pp said, it takes a few weeks for them to work out day from night.

Also, babies that tiny need to sleep during the day. If you keep them awake they get horribly overtired and can be hard to settle.

Strange as it may seem, often if they've napped well during the day they then actually sleep better at night.

She will need to keep waking to feed as her stomach is tiny.
We make sure that the bedroom is dark and quiet and living room is light and noisy so she gets used to night and day. Our dd is 3 months now and sometimes sleeps for 6 hours at a time at night, sometimes for 3. I'm almost used to the odd sleeping patterns!

Sleep deprivation sucks but unfortunately as previous posters said, don't try to keep her awake in the day. It will just result in a horribly overtired irritable baby Sad

At two weeks they need to feed so regularly you'll be really lucky if she'll sleep through the night. I know with are DD she was up every 2.5 hours for a feed - although she was a hungry beast and every baby's different. You're best to just let her do what she wants to do OP. And at two weeks, unfortunately that's mostly sleep, eat, poop and repeate. It's hard to start with, but it will get easier! Or, you'll just become accustomed to functioning on a couple of hours sleep! Sorry I can't be of more help! Good luck!

Woops posted too soon! So in the day look out for her sleepy cues (eye rubbing, yawning and staring into space) and allow her to nap. I've also found that better daytime naps = better nighttime sleep! When she's awake in the day keep everything light, bright and loud then at night keep everything dark and quiet. When you get to about 6 weeks you can introduce a bedtime routine from around 6pm which should help. Flowers
