Need some tips on setting pocket money

I would like to start and set pocket money for my 2 boys age 8 and 12. I need them to help me out a bit round the house so would like to have some expectations for them. I would like them to save some of it too for the future.

Can anyone please share what they do WRT to pocket money. I haven't a clue how much to give them or what they would spend it on.

Hi, I give half of their age per week. They all put it aside for their holidsy spends. I have a 1 year old (50p) 3 year old (1.50) and a 9 year old (4.50)
My one year old isn't expected to do anything but we encourage her to help us take her clothes to the laundry basket. My 3 year old makes her bed and helps tidy up. My 9 year old clears the table after dinner. On occasions she will offer to help cook or help clean house. But their pocket money is based on behaviour for that week. Theydon't have to be perfect as they are only kids. But if there is anything major then pocket money will not be given. Hope this helps

Mine get a pocket money every week and they split it 3 ways, so some they have to spend, some they have to save and some they give to charity. I want them to get used to saving and charitable giving and grow up thinking this is normal financial behavior so I figure starting them off young and making this a normal expectation is a good way to start.

@JudyBlumeForever I love this idea! I think I will do this! Fantastic way of teaching them to manage their money!

DD2 is 12 and gets £15 / month straight into bank account and has a cash card to withdraw it. Not explicitly linked to jobs and behaviour but they aren't an issue. Discretionary spends only, includes PAYG phone and token presents at Xmas and Bdays for immediate family (3 people).
Prior to secondary she was on £3/week.

We use Go Henry for pocket money. 9 and 11 yr olds get £4 every saturday and it transfers automatically. I have some extra jobs set up that they can earn extra money for.

They have debit cards for their accounts, but in practice if they want to spend some money I use the app to transfer it back to me and I hand them the cash or order it from amazon or whatever.
