When do you stop needing breast pads?

Exclusively breastfeeding a 4 month old. I thought that breast pads were only necessary for the first couple of weeks, but I'm still needing them. My supply is still quite quick - baby usually has a full feed in less than 5 mins and remains full for 3 hours, and has gained weight faster than expected. When she feeds from one boob, the other drips like a tap. When I get full in between feeds, they can drip too. So if I don't use pads, my bra is soaked by evening and really gross. Is anyone else still having this problem at 4 months, or is it supposed to resolve much earlier?

With my dd I still needing them at a year, some friends only needed them overnight after a few months I think everyone is different.

I never stopped needing them. I went without a few times and leaked through my shirt at work.

I needed them the whole time I was EBF, tailed off when I started to mix feed in preparation for going back to work.

Ok, that's reassuring. I thought there was something wrong with me, like a hormone-type problem. Thanks everyone Flowers

I miss having those troubles but yes blinding embarrassing with full on leak at family meal (not close family either ). Yes as soon as it trails off for me. You're obviously doing amazingly👍🍭

With my first child I needed them pretty much right through but second time around I stopped using them by about seven months or so. Even though I leaked a lot before that, I think my boobs have just figured out what they're doing now Grin

My DD is 6.5m & I've just stopped wearing washable breast pads daily.

Also, have you heard of breast milk shells? Amazon it. They were great with my first. If you leak loads you can slip one in your bra on the side you're not feeding and it catches the milk. I ten used to tip it in a bottle in the freezer - no soggy bra AND I built up a stash of emergency milk without ever having to express. Only any good for when you're at home though, too fiddly for our and about.
