When I think back now to when I had ds 9 years ago I cannot believe how different and how wrapped up I was in baby things. Spending hours discussing nappies, bottles, baby groups etc.
It almost feels like a whole lifetime ago and that I was in some baby bubble lol
All I could think about was this little tiny baby. Looking to the size of him now I cannot believe how much our/my/his life has changed.

When I was pg with my first, I never thought beyond labour!! Obviously got all the baby clothes and equipment in, but I never thought about what I was actually going to do with a baby!! Am 37 weeks pg now, and have thought about actually accomodating a baby in our lives this time!!

I don't think I looked past the giving birth. LOL

I was sooooo unprepared when I had my first and consequently found it very difficult to adjust to it.

didn't think beyond labour with the first - will always remember asking the midwife "what do i do now" when we arrived on the post-natal ward.

When i was pg with my dd1, i also didn't think beyond the baby stage. I read up about the developing baby on my way to work, made a spreadsheet of all the things i wanted to buy, and prepared myself as much as i could.
I could spend hours talking about nappies, bottles, baby food, baby clothes, etc aswell!
I wasn't scared about the birth and, tbh, i found it all quite easy. She grew up so fast .. too quickly .. she was so sweet and such a good baby.

I never wanted a baby I wanted a child so I probably did not spend enought time thinking about the baby phase, where my problems started really.

WideWebWitch · 25/03/2007 13:01

No, I didn't think beyond baby stage.

hunkermunker · 25/03/2007 13:03

I still find it very hard to think beyond the stage I'm actually at. So I don't, really.

at custy

i got to months seven in the baby book before i had dd and then never got the chance to read any more!

never really thought i'd have a baby though, was pretty certain i was imagining the whole thing and the doctors were just playing along with the crazy chick.

and certyainly never anticipated the little girl i'd have now, still get a shock every morning when i go into her!

princessmel · 25/03/2007 13:14

I did actually. I used to imagine us as a family and the things we'd do, like go camping and trips out. I like planning nice things in my head.

juicychops · 25/03/2007 14:17

I did but not very reasistically! i imagined it to be easy and 100% fun once toddler age and that he would be my little sidekick and we would do everything together. But its not quite turned out like that...
