fed up with sudacrem getting everywhere, have heard callendula cream could be worth a try, has anyone else tried it?

I've used calendula cream on mild nappy rash and it's pretty good. Only thing is though that it doesn't really act as much of a barrier, so if the rash is already bad and you need to protect the skin from further wee, you probably need something a bit tougher.

its great. put on a lot and it can also act as a barrier. nice to know theres nothing in there that is chemically...

I've just found a fab cream - Tisserand Tea Tree & Manuka cream. I bought it in desperation to use on BabyDragon's rash which had got to the weeping sores stage and after 2 days it's almost gone No use as a barrier cream though. I've used Kamillosan to good effect before too, it has more of a barrier effect. Waitrose's Bottom Butter is nice too - smells fabulous for a start. I never remember to put any cream on unles DD has a rash though.

where do you buy the tisserand? and do you have recommendations for a shampoo/soap

SoupDreggon · 24/03/2007 19:23

I got it from Waitrose. I actually wanted Metanium but they didn't have any!

The Waitrose baby range in general is nice. I've used the bubbly bath and shampoo. I@m not sure how they rate on the "natural" stakes. The Bottom Butter is just olive oil (hydrogenated though!) and vanilla IIRC

SoupDreggon · 24/03/2007 19:28

I think I must only have used the Waitrose BabyBath Bubbles as Ocado don't have a shampoo. The "Halos N Horns" range looks good - no sodium Laurel suphate and other "nasties".

Try Morhuilin ,its cheap and very effective.
Ask in the chemists ,Boots keep it behind the counter.
Everyone I have told about it says its fab.
One girl said her chemist didn't know about it ,got some tried it on her own baby and now stocks it all the time

I used Kamillosan (bought it for nips before I'd been introduced to Lansinoh so kind of desperate to use it up!!) which was good - soothing and a barrier in one. However I then changed to cloth nappies and haven't had any further episodes of nappy rash . I also rarely use bought baby wipes, using a chopped up terry nappy and water, or at the merest hint of redness cooled cammomile tea. It's effective for my LO but I think it depends how sensitive your DC's skin is. Experiment if it's not too expensive. I remember a gardner's world episode where they made calendular cream, wonder if this would still be on the website?

FWIW I use calendula on a whole variety of sore bits of skin in various places and it works on everything so I would give it a go

Earth friendly baby daily care cream is good, they have a nappy one too with red clover but i prefer the daily one...
