Hi folks, at what age did you introduce pocket money? Are there rules, do they have to earn it, are there penalties / bonuses for behaviour, are there rules as to what they can /can't spend it on?

Aged 7 for each of mine.
It seemed a good time as they could understand the value of coins and could 'do the maths' in terms of 'How many weeks will it take me to save for this' or 'If I spend X on this, how much will I have left for that' type questions.

Owning their own money, made 'using money' more real, and no longer just a question in a maths lesson.
They could spend it on whatever they like, but did like me helping them / taking them to the pound shop or the sweet counter in a shop to get siblings a present before birthdays and Christmas.
Didn't have to 'earn' it - although, they have always been expected to contribute to the household in age appropriate way (laying table or whatever)
No bonus or penalty for behaviour. Always tried to link punishments / rewards to whatever the "crime" or lovely behaviour was.

Dd is 5. Since she started wanting shite like Jojo bows and fidget spinners we gave her pocket money so if she wants she can buy them

She gets a pound on a friday. We supplement it with tooth fairy money (4 teeth so far at a pound a pop). We also have a random challenge for 20p a pop so if she sees an ambulance she gets 20p. It used to he yellow cars but every fucker has one these days.

If she helps with chores she gets a well done. She automatically sorts her plate to the kitchen, clothes to the wash basket etc. So they arent rewarded.
