Sunken fontanel after feed

Hi- I've noticed my baby often has a sunken fontanel when I sit him upright after a feed.
I know this can mean dehydration but I can't understand when it was be sunken when I've just fed him?

If he's sitting upright I wouldn't worry too much as long as it's not sunken when he's horizontal, his mouth is wet and he's having plenty of wet nappies. My two both had slight dips there all the time. I think it's just gravity'

A slight dip is normal, my GP told me I would absolutely know if it was sunken due to dehydration. Can't miss it apparently.

It used to drive me crazy with my first one - my dd had a slight dip too and I was always rubbing it and checking it. Look at their lips and cheeks too - there are other signs if you're over worrying about dehydration. Certain expressions used to make my dd's fontanel look more sunken.

Both dc survived and well last bf age now!

If you're worrying milk isn't coming out, get a hand pump and express one side of the boob - that is reassuring.

I remember asking everyone I knew for views on the fontanel sunkeness.

well just pride yourself on the fact that you didn't include 5 shots of the sunken fontanel - had I known about mumsnet then, I sure would have!
