Dilemma with 8 month old.

I have a dilemma. My daughter is almost 8 months old and I'm planning to go out for my birthday next weekend. I haven't been out since she was born so I am planning to drink and my mum will be looking after her, my hv letting someone else have her for a night anyway so she has no choice but to take the bottle. Only problem is, she won't take the bottle, I have tried different teats and no joy. Today, I expressed a bit of milk into a bottle and gave it to her, she sucked for 30 seconds then started crying. She won't take formula at all so I do believe that is progress. I think I am going to express for my birthday only problem is I am worried about becoming engorged as my dress reveals a by of cleavage I feel like my boobs will be rock hard. I am going to try express before I leave. How do I store milk from now until then? Also after drinking can I breastfeed when I get home ? Or do I have to pump and dump for a bit, so should I pump more for the next day?

Oh I'm so pleased for you, that must be a relief! I believe it's between 25-35 ounces a day, more or less depending on how much solids she eats SmileI'm sure she'll let you know if she wants more!

Are you continuing with the Bfing twice a day? Just asking as it will have an effect on the amount of formula Smile

Thank you so much. She's taking two feeds from the breast morning and afternoon and the rest is food. She has three meals a day with dessert and little bit of water with each meal. I was thinking two bottles of formula a day? Or more? For mid morning and night.

I think you are about right but if you want to check with someone who is trained rather than some randomer on'tinternet me, I'd give one of the Bfing Helplines a call in the morning. A BFC will be able to help you out with quantities Smile

At 8 months, milk should still be her main source of food, not meals, dessert and water.

Thank you
