Breastfed baby

Hi everyone!
Paranoid first time mummy here!
I'm breastfeeding 4wk old DS and over the last week or so he has started bringing milk up after feeds which he didn't do previously.
Do you guys think this could just be because he's getting bigger/older he's taking in more milk and struggling to keep it all down? Or could it be a sign of reflux? Or an allergy to something in my breast milk?
Guessing it's just 'one of those things' and I was lucky in the first 2-3 weeks that he didn't do it?! He seems to be putting on weight like nobodies business and doesn't seem overly bothered when he brings a up the milk.
Thanks!

My DS does this. He's 4.5 months now but sometimes beings up a little milk especially if he still has a bit of wind. If it's only a little, it's called possating which is normal and can look like a lot as it's mixed with their saliva and they won't looked shocked when they being it up. They can also bring it up if they have taken in too much at that time.

Thank you! I felt it was normal but just thought I'd ask seeing as it's only started happening in the last week or so and not before :) I think he can just be a little greedy so and so and thinks he can manage more than he can Smile

If baby is gaining weight and not distressed by the vomiting then there's absolutely nothing to worry about. A degree of reflux is completely normal - it's only when it pains baby or is so severe that baby struggles to gain that it's a problem. He'll grow out of it.

Babies aren't the least bit shy about letting you know if they're not happy! Grin

Totally normal. Unless he is vomiting massively every time and crying in pain with it then don't worry. Both of mine were sick a lot after every feed. One was just a greedy guts and I had oversupply and by feeding him only one side at a time it helped a fair bit. He was a happy spewer though and was never upset about it. My second vomited multiple times a day huge amounts and screamed for hours (literally constantly for 4-5 hrs at a time) and wouldn't settle. He was on reflux meds for a year.

Both improved massively after starting solids and sitting up more.

Thanks guys for the reassurance 👍🏼
He's not at all unhappy when he brings it up, he is definitely gaining weight. He never needs to be moved to the other breast as always seems satisfied off the first so wonder if he just takes a lot in (maybe I have a high supply too??). Feel better about it now, sorry, probably sounded like a silly question but being a FTM you don't know what's normal and what's not! x

It's called posseting op and it's totally normal. My ds did it for ages and my advice would be to buy lots of muslins!

Totally normal. Mine did all the way up til a year old (though obviously way less frequently when he was older)

My DD started doing that at around 4 weeks having not done it much before then; I assumed it was down to taking bigger feeds and no health professional seemed worried as long as she was putting on weight

mine does this. he didn't for the first few weeks also. no idea why but he's becoming an absolute chunk so I'm not particularly concerned. it's usually when i don't get a dry burp out of him. my mum is a neonatal nurse and she says he's fine. it's worst when it comes out of his nose, it gives him a fright. my best advice is gentle burping and a bit of upright time - not easy at 430am she says as she puts sleepy Mr Milk Chops straight back to bed !
