Hello
My little boy needs a tooth removing via general anaesthetic at the hospital. I'm really worried about it as he had two operations November last year and it was really traumatic. Just wondered what people's experiences were please
Thanks x

Why does he need a tooth removed? General anaesthetic for young children is rarely nice but they get over it.

Hiya. I've had 6 teeth out under general as a child. Much better than the 2 I had out under local where the dentist pulled so hard my head was coming off the chair! It will be very quick and not too much pain afterwards although his mouth will be a bit bloody and sore for a while. xx

How old is he? Ds2 fell and broke his two front teeth when he was just 3 and had them removed under GA.
when they are getting teeth out it's really quick and they come round really fast afterwards. Ds2 was starving after as well and had no problems eating right away and they encouraged it.
He had some back teeth out last year when he was 5 and he didn't want to be put to sleep so the dentist referred him to another local dentist for a thing called RA and he had a mask releasing gas and air over his nose while the dentist numbed his gum and removed the teeth. He wasn't asleep but he was pretty spaced out. That only worked because he doesn't find the dentist traumatic though. But it might be an option if you think the GA would be worse.

Hello
Thanks for the replies, my little one is four. He wouldn't be able to be awake as he has some learning difficulties and it would scare the hell out of him. Just worried about how he will be after really.. xx
