Cot advice

My DD who is 2 in 2 weeks, has started to try & climb out of her cot Confused, I'm really worried she may fall & hurt herself if I'm not there quick enough to get to her. Is this a sign to now take the sides off?
She is a really bad sleeper as it is, so I guess if we do need take the sides off we should prep ourselves for her wondering into our room of a night. Sad. Thanks

Yes we moved our DS to a bed at the same age as he started to climb. We put a stair gate on his bedroom door though!

I'd personally take the sides off
Secure the room with a baby gate

My son did the same and once I took the sides off id find him asleep on the floor lol but in time he learnt to stay in bed

DS (just turned 2) was able to climb out at 16 months! We were able to drop the mattress right to the floor which bought us another 6 months of containment thankfully and changed to bed around 22 months.

He actually did really well when we took the sides off and he doesn't get up in the night. Occasionally he sleeps on his duvet on the floor, and he goes and gets books or toys off his shelf on a morning and plays with them for a little while, which is nice. Secure anything they can climb on in their room and put up a baby gate if you think they'll leave the room.

Yes I'd take the sides off.

As for your worries about her sleep once you do, our DD1 who had never slept through the night before when we removed the cot sides suddenly started sleeping through. I think she felt safer being able to come to us if she wished so.

Thanks all I thought that would be the case. I will be investing in another baby gate tomorrow then. Grin

I might be being stupid but how do you put a stairgate on a bedroom door if the door gets shut at night? My DS's door opens inwards to his bedroom and we always close it after we say goodnight. He's still in his cot at the moment so cant get to the door to open it anyway...
