Preparation before a masters' degree?

I am considering starting masters in the next year or two. The one I'd like to do is quite competitive to get into, and though my (recent) bachelor's was a first class honours, I'm feeling a slight wobble in confidence re my ability to deal with research methods, stats and so on.

Is it a good idea to do a PGCert before opting for a full on masters' to gauge whether I have what it takes?

If you got a first at undergrad chances are you'll be fine on a Masters course. I got a low 2.1 for my undergrad and through being in a better place and focusing a bit more I then got a distinction at Masters 2 years later. You've got what it takes, go for it! 😊

That's inspiring, thank you! Still mulling it over, I may choose for the part time option to fit in with work and the kids.

Go for it!
I started a masters nearly 8 years after my undergrad, did PT over 2 years whilst working - was a bit rusty to start but really enjoyed it
